I know this is an odd topic, but has anyone else had r/c based dreams? My reason for asking is because for years, I've had a repetitive dream that Kyosho did a short-term run of it's classic Big Brute based monster trucks (Double Dare, USA 1, etc).  In the dream, the kits are only being sold at big box home improvement stores like Home Depot and Lowes, and every time I get to the store, they'd just sold out.  I don't know the science behind analyzing dreams, but my best guess is that it's guilt for selling a Big Boss years ago-- It was the first r/c kit I built by myself. I bring this up after having another one of these dreams, just the other night.

Anybody else have dreams like this or should I seek professional help?

"The Interpretation of Dreams" Sigmund Freud is what you want ;)

It's all about an unresolved conflict which is censored/filtered from your consciousness by your pre-conscious or something. Basically, when you were a child your Mum didn't buy you the toy you wanted and now it's manifested this repressed childhood memory into your unconscious. According to Freud, the big box home improvement store represents the womb, and you don't want to delve any further than that or there'll be Oedipus complexes and all sorts of other mess to sort out lol, the Big Brute is how you fancied yourself, but the store being sold out is your sub conscious telling you you're a loser, the fact you sold one that you once had, and you built it yourself is poignant because it highlights that you were once a winner, which now makes you a double loser with a kick a$$ complex, but if they Rere it and you buy three of them, you'll be a winner again. Kyosho can make you a winner again, if you spend lots of money, but only if they Re-issue the Big Brute, if they don't you will need to visit Ebay to purchase a used one, basically your dream is telling you that your life is incomplete and that missing Big Brute will turn your life around. ;)

Or maybe it's all a metaphor for releasing the inner Big Brute, in which case a 4 pack of Stella should help, but if it's all sold out, maybe it's too late and there is no Big Brute left, you've gone soft and you'll have to reinvent yourself as a Kumamon Sand Rover, but the ensuing internal dichotomy that would be unleashed is the stuff of eternal nightmares from which you may never emerge...but that's a whole other chapter ;)

Anyone else care to psycho analyse this dream?...

My dreams usually involve going into work with a baseball bat called Lucille ............

If I'm not mistaken, Lucille is a vampire bat. Wish I had normal dreams like that:lol:

When I was into Tamiya as a kid, I had just missed a lot of the first era of cars. My introduction was cars like the Monster Beetle, Big Wig, Lunch Box, Fox, etc. Even the Hot Shot was just being phased out around this time. I was very hungry for knowledge on the earlier cars. Back in those days, it was hard to find even pictures of the cars or even boxart. Nobody cared about collecting old RC cars. I would go to hobby shops everywhere and ask about these cars and hunt up old literature on them. I used to repeatedly dream that I found a hobby shop with a great deal of older stock. In it, my parents would allow me to get two kits. I always dreamed of walking out the door with a Wild Willy 1 and Super Champ.

Saito2, I got into Tamiya in 1989, so a lot of buggies like the Rough Rider and Hotshot were also hard to find in the hobby shops. My only knowledge of them were from black and white ads in  R/C Car Action magazine. My first hobby-grade r/c was a Clodbuster and a friend got an RC10 and Blackfoot. I remember finding it perplexing why these incredible machines didn't have television commercials, while the toy-grade cars (Tyco, Radio Shack) could be seen everyday during afternoon cartoons. I began having dreams of TV commercials for Tamiya and Kyosho kits. Thinking back, I vaguely remember the Clod commercial having it's own unique country music theme...(keep in mind, I grew up in rural Kentucky).

Not to go off topic, but those old black and white ads in back issues of Car Action is exactly how I first got to see those earlier cars too. Every once in a while I'd get a Tamiya static model (I built a lot of their 1/35th military models too) that must have been on the shelf for a long time. Tamiya used to stick a little tri-folded ad/pamphlet in with their kits and these old kits would come with the older pamphlet. That's the first time I saw a Wild Willy, Pajero, Brat and Lancia in color. I also felt the same way about the Tyco TV ads. But, to me, knowing Tamiya over Tyco and knowing they were hobby-grade seemed more "adult" for some reason. I can definitely see country music going with the Clod.;)

Thank goodness he didn't dream about a Wild Willy...

I also had an RC-related dream last night.  I'm not sure if I've had an RC-related dream before.  Maybe, I don't usually remember my dreams unless they're really memorable.  This particular dream would have been forgotten as well, were it not for this thread bringing it back to me:

I'd gone to some kind of outdoor event.  I think an RC bash, although it was late in the afternoon and it was raining and people were settling into their tents.  I was wandering around on ground that was gradually getting soggier.  But there was a shop tent open, and they were selling various modelling stuff, from statics and die cast to RTRs to full Tamiya and other kits, all at discounted show prices.  I was desperate to get something, but they didn't have what I wanted.  I went in and out a dozen times, and every time went out and in again they'd changed their stock.  One time I went to go back in and saw a guy coming the other way carrying an NIB Scorcher re-re and an NIB Super HotShot, he said he'd got them for a real bargain price, I rushed in to get the same deal but they were all sold out...

This whole dreaming of stuff being out of stock*, or having loads of choice but not being able to choose, was quite a common thing when I was younger, but this is the first time I've had this type of dream in a long, long time.

*This was actually common for me in real life, too.  I bought most of my stuff from Argos.  Actually, no, I saw stuff in the Argos catalog, I saved up for it, I went in to buy it, only to be told "sorry, that's out of stock."  Birthdays, Christmas, summer savings, whatever I wanted to buy at Argos was out of stock, guaranteed.

Maybe that's where I get these dreams from...

Ha Ha...true!

Glad I'm not the only person having R/C dreams, although I may be the only one having the same dream repetitively over a span of years.
