My Vanquish

Recommended Posts

Hey, I have just restored my Tamiya Vanquish and would like to share. Vanquish is a really nice rc car. But the driver do not fit the cockpit so I remade one. I am still using the old Am 27MHz controller with Tamiya CPR unit. But what would be the difference if the electric parts were upgraded to 2.4G? Also could you suggest any hop-up for this master piece?

Nice car buddy :D That driver looks cool, Which did you use? his top hand looks massive in the pic ^_^ Some Hi-cap dampers would look nice as a hop up, Where did you get that front shock tower upgrade :o:)

Oh cool he put Willy behind the wheel. ESC and 2.4 is a good plan much more reliable. Don't drive it to fast its very hard to become spare parts for this car.

Hi Caps would be the way to go and of course ballbearings and a steel metric .6 pinion (Hi Caps if you are patient you can get those for about 25-30€ a set, you would need the mini and short), if you plan to change more or drive it hard better look for a used rere egress.

Lovely car! Most people don't know this, but Evert Edwards suffers from elephantitis of the hands. He's actually rather shy about it but those big hands give him superior control of the wheel which is why he's able to "vanquish" his competition. :P

Cool car.  I stripped mine down the other day and have been cleaning parts, checking for breaks and buying spares.  I'll be reading this thread with great interest.

Bingo! He's the driver from Wild Willy, plus the original vanguish helmet. I think this mod utilised the whole cockpit of the buggy.

Also thank you for valuable suggestion as to upgrading it. For motor, mine has equipped with a 540J one only, me also afraid of damaging it with high speed. It has already got full set of bearings. So my next step could be upgrading it with hi-cap dampers. BTW, I wonder if newly issued dampers could be equipped on this vintage.

As to the front damper stay, it was bought long time ago, manufactured by Taiwan? Korea? Not sure... It has silver colour (as shown in my pics) and black colour. I think it is quite difficult to find one now...

TRF buggy damper could work or the DF03 set, you would have to check if they fit up front rear should be easy.

Or keep her original, the Vanquish is getting more popular nowadays.

Great car,

never forget the day I got mine on Christmas in youth from my parents!

Still have to restore it, only began to last year. Good upgrade would be steering links from the RE-RE Egress,

makes the steering more precise. But the original isn´t too bad either...

Keep the plastic parts in good shape, these are really hard to find...

If it was me, I would keep the vanquish standard.

I also have found vanquish parts harder to find.

Buy a rere egress and run that. 2.4ghz and a mild brushless, will put a big smile on your face. (the Egress is already hopped up with carbon plates and hi-cap dampers)
