Thinking about getting the DF03 white edition

I think it makes an ok entry level racer but seems a bit fragile as a basher. I am just a basher so messing with diffs and such is not for me

I would never drive it - full stop. Apart from the white parts getting dirty, the alloy idler gear is reportedly made of something akin to metallic butter, and the official hardened replacement is so hard to come by that people have started modding helicopter gears to fit.

I think it says a lot that Tamiya decided not to develop the DB-02 platform further, and instead chose to add "R"s (and upgraded parts) to the DB-01 instead.

From what I have read, the main criticisms of the DB-02 are fragility and overly-complex design, making trackside repairs both frequent and time-consuming. However some people have reportedly modified it to almost-TRF levels, and have raced it successfully.

If I had the budget, I'd leave the Leonis alone and instead get a DB-01 with as many "R"s as I could afford.
