I have a little spare cash in PayPal and love my DT-02 &3 but would love to try a 4wd buggy.

There seem to be a few options and I am leaning towards the DF-03.

I am a pure basher not a racer so I just want waste grass and small jumping fun.

Any suggestions? I can get a  Dark Impact for about £120 so that is my budget at the moment

The way it was explained to me when I asked that question of my mate is that the DF and DT ranges don't exactly run alongside each other as 4WD and 2WD equivalents. For example, the DF-01 was the basis of some pretty race-worthy models back in its day, whereas the DT-01 was never intended as more than a basher with its gearbox pod and swing arm suspension.

The DF-02 and DT-02 are probably closest in terms of equivalents, both relatively simple basher buggies that can be made kinda raceable with the appropriate upgrades.

As for the DF-03 vs. TT-02B, both have their gear issues from what I gather, but whereas the parts to sort out the TT-02B diffs are easy enough to come by, the hardened gear needed by the DF-03 is very rare indeed nowdays.

(Stock ground clearance on the TT-02B does indeed appear to be lower than the DF-03, but isn't that something you'd adjust to your tastes anyway?)

I am not wanting a direct comparison just a replication of the "fun" all round basher  that the DT-02 is but in 4WD.

Since the demise of Banzai I cannot just throw hop-ups at models anymore as I refuse to pay £30 for a £6 part.

I think an £80 TT02 with a few tweaks might be the way for me :-)

I'm very happy with the DF02 Aero Avante. I was lead to belive the gears in this were tougher than the TT02B and you can also hop up the gears with one ways/ball diffs etc with TT01 parts I believe?!

DF-01 and DF-02 seem to be a bit thin on the ground now. There is an XB DF-02 on eBay but if I am going ready built I might as well go for another make that will be far superior but have no soul

There's an Aero on ebay for £80 in Japan, last one, £50 postage but if you email them you may be able to get a better deal?

I saw that but I got stung hard by customs last time I brought a kit in. I might get a TT and keep an eye out for a DF-02 used to rebuild later. It is not like there is a limit to toys one man should own.....

Totally off budget but did you see Tamico have the Vajra back in and on special this week?!

I have seen it. If my Tundra had sold I would have taken one

TT-02b MS ordered

downloaded the manual and it does not come with any tyres! Fat lot of good carbon shock towers are going to be if I cannot get the power down.

Anyone run one of these with monster tyres?

I made the same mistake of not knowing it doesn't come with tires. I used a set of proline dirt hawgs for all around and proline hole shot for off road.

Exactly, I didn't realise they were 2.2", I'm guessing with your Prolines that that's the size?

Also didn't clock no motor or esc, still a nice looking kit for the money.

cheers RB

Yes 2.2...the dirt hawgs run a little bigger than standard 2.2 so you gain some height, but imthink it affects performance. The hole shot definitely perform better and are more suited.

The £80 ones had the ESC removed as well so not to bothered. I have a combo to go in it so silvercan not needed either.
