Who has a short Willy? (MF-01x Wild Willy 2)

Recommended Posts

I put together a slower-motion version of the above video, hopefully to show it's wheelie action more clearly...

Still hysterical, and it handles amazingly well - thanks to it's quite substantial weight, that is kept low down.

Cool build. I was thinking the same when I got my MF01 but decided not to, because of the way the battery is sticking out. I kept my MF01 slightly longer with the toyota body from a GF-01.

The MF-01X has a rectangular battery opening so you could use a 2s shorty LiPo.

Just noodling around on Youtube and I found this video - not a MF01x chassis, rather two M01/02 chassis halves bolted together, using the original horizontal shocks at both ends... neat!

Thanks so much for posting this thread @JennyMo - it has inspired me to convert my WW2 into a little trail truck!

I understand the trails will have to be very 'light' with the ground clearance of the MF01X. I really wanted to build up a moderate crawler with the Shapeways chassis + Night Crawler axles but I can't find these items at a reasonable price.

I picked up a Jimny MF01X for a bargain from RCJaz  I have an old TL01 that doesn't get much use - I'm contemplating using it for spares/alternate parts in this project. Hopefully I can avoid getting sucked into another Hop-Up vortex like my CC01 build! :D
