Unexpected good news!

Does Tamiya's doctrine of production and advertising changed? It seems to make everything in a secret chamber.

The Evo is basically the Black Special version of it. Since they take every available opportunity to make a "special" version of each vintage buggy I feel very confident that the Evo will now be re-released within the next couple of years.

Yeah, that's true, my bad.  But Ok they got this nice chassis, why not make another version of it, not with the regular green body. Do as I did and many others change colors on body, and other parts. or do as they have done with the grasshopper, different paint schema's. That said I'm super happy that they are rereleasing it and it's on my must buy list :-)

I know visually Tamiya have tried to stay true to the original (with minor performance tweeks e.g. like the gold coloured front uprights on the Egress )  but i do think a slight variation wouldn't be a bad thing.  We've had the black edition and blue edition LB, a chrome edition midnight pumpkin.  A silver edition Top Force with simple monochrome decals I think would look great.

Yeah, I would like to see one like that.

I was just getting into Tamiya when the Top Force and Manta Ray were being re-release, I actually didn't know they were re-res.  I was never into the Top Force (thought it looked ugly) but I had the Manta Ray on my wantlist for a while.  It was only when I went to buy one that I discovered it had been discontinued and couldn't be had for a sensible price :(

Ten years later and now I appreciate the Top Force for what it is, and would love to add one to my collection.  I wasn't planning on buying any new stuff in 2017 but if there's any spare in the budget at the end of the summer and this isn't a pricey and hard-to-attain limited release, I might grab one for the Rainy Day Builds shelf :)

Available around 8th Feb here in the UK.

Tamiya The Bigwig (2017) 47330

thanks :)

Seems that there's a couple of cool cars that are going to break my credit card this year....   I had a NIB ReRe Top Force but sold it because I couldn't bring myself to crack the kit open and start building (already have a Top Force runner but I didn't build it myself).   So now I am thinking 1 x Bigwig and 2x Top Force.  One to build and one to stick away for drooling over :)

When I bought mine from Stella in 2006 the price, delivered to my door, was £85! It will probably be twice that amount now.

It really was great having an exchange rate of nearly two dollars to the pound.

Tower pricing is at $204 USD, I wonder if that would change?

Yep Trump will add another 300%

lovely. i have 1 NIB and 1 display set. hopefully this re-re will be an exact replica. time to finally buy a couple to run!

really hope they release the top force evo as well

these older tamiya designs tend to end up as display sets simply because durability and jumpability aren't comparable to current ones. think txt-1 vs a traxxas summit, or even a current emaxx!

still, i'll get all of them, time permitting(if not they stay NIB). i just finished a re-re avante last month. after 5 long years.

I had the same price experience when I ordered the hotshot in 2007 from Stella it cost me a fraction of the price that it was in the UK! I've just compared the price for the bigwig and by the time p&p and the gamble from custom's enters the equation it's not worth it!
