pininfarina 1009 Posted January 27, 2017 Not sure this qualifies for Build or Design Thread. After watching The Grand Tour's VW Beach Buggies, i've decided to make a similar replica of Richard's modified Beach Buggy :-) Here's where I am starting with a Holiday Buggy on a DT-02, not going to make too scale. Just some modification that makes it looks a bit scale -ish.. list of things done so far... 1) full lights 2) Animated Driver, head and arms on steering wheel 3) roll-cage. similar ?
pininfarina 1009 Posted January 27, 2017 1 - LED systems :-) with the selection switch on the dash, will decide to do a mock up console later.
pininfarina 1009 Posted January 27, 2017 2) doing test for the Steering, Driver Head... then Steering wheel
pininfarina 1009 Posted January 27, 2017 Making the driver :-) making a hole so it fits the head.. also scrapping the paint for glue. If you want the glue to stick, allow it to dry at least over a day!!
pininfarina 1009 Posted January 27, 2017 wiring up - to test the steering, Driver head and steering wheel must be in sync. made a compact steering wheel unit from my 3D printer :D and it is... it works great!
pininfarina 1009 Posted January 27, 2017 printed and installed the front roll-cage too Printed a base to install the front roll-cage via 2 screws.
Terz1 745 Posted January 27, 2017 Great project. I really think that when an rc has a driver it really sets everything off. Love the moving head too, takes it that one bit further. Look forward to the rest.

pininfarina 1009 Posted January 30, 2017 With the steering constraints - i've decided to limit the steering radius so as not to hit the legs when holding with both hands.... Steering Hand gripping in the middle and another one for the gear/shift lever. will remove the cable tie and fit it with a long sleeve and sponge padding for shoulders.... lol! here's a first option for the steering arm.
