On for the Uk members I guess, has anyone got it and what do they think of it.  After 20+ years of being a Sky Tv subscriber (my first box only had 48 presets and half those were not even in English), Sky, and Discovery look to be parting ways wiping out 90% of what I actually want to watch.  I don't live in a cable area, so thats out, BT vision looks to have most of what I actually watch, plus the 4K / HD service is only £12 per month at the moment.  Which is a good saving  over the £32 I pay for SD Sky.

It is easier to press of when choice is limited. I get draw in to watching series and find it best if I just do not know they exist.

Hi pumesta. I went through the same thing just over a year ago. I've been with sky and wanted to reduce the costs of my tv and after checking the programmes I watched on sky and comparing it to bt I found only 1 or 2 missing so I could live with that. Just happened to get a letter from bt stating their package prices at the same tIme. The letter also said contact us and we will do all the rest, tv, internet, phone line transfer.

To cut this massive debacle short. It was the single worst thing I did regarding the internet, phone, tv etc. Firstly they can't transfer everything over so we were paying for 2 things at the same time (can't remember which thing from sky it was). They told us multiple delivery dates when we 'had' to be in to sign for the new equipment. It never turned up. When it did we had 2 of everything. We were transferring to one of their phone lines and for some reason it didn't change over. The engineer that was meant to install everything but didn't turn up. The call centres are not UK based and believe me this is huge!!! They are call centres in India and they just read from scripts and it is so hard to get them to actually answer your question. They have you in tears nearly. They say they are going to do something and it never happens. This all happened over december 2015. We didn't have any phone or internet over the whole month. I eventually spoke to someone from the UK and he apologised for the whole fiasco and cancelled all the packages. We contacted sky (UK call centre) and they were great and even though they didn't do anything wrong got us a new tv, internet and phone package for cheaper than before. Wish I'd have just rang them in the first place. What I've told you is the very, very short version.

Not sure about other tv packages other than sky but I wouldn't recommend getting bt to anyone. May be ring sky and tell them about a deal you've seen and get and see if they can get close to it? Also is discovery really leaving sky?

Switched to a humax freesat box and just pay for broadband (and landline, but does anyone still use theres?) through virgin, 80+ mgb for just over £20.

When we weighed it up, it was me that watched the, wheeler dealers, fast and load etc,she only watched council telly soaps, so it was agreed I could spend the £50 saved on car bits! 😀

Although did find that freesat DOESN'T include Dave! So swapped to a humax freeview.

Hmmmm doesn't sound good, although my phone and broadband are with BT so it's really only the tv.  Also I think they have all but closed their Indian call centre.

Sounds like it will be much less likely to go wrong with it being just the tv. I might ring sky on monday and look into virgin and the other providers mentioned in this thread as I really like the discovery channels.
