It's for my ReRe Scorcher which runs a Tamiya ESC and a Sports Tuned motor.

It will be nearly always run on grass or dirt, with the hope of the beach one day.

There are 2 choices, 20 Pinion and 65 main cog or 15/70.

I think looking at an early S.S manual 15/70 is the better choice for me.

The 15 tooth pinion is steel as standard, so best to go with that unless you have a steel 20 tooth pinion. It is significantly quicker with the larger

pinion, so I guess it depends how much you value your bodyshell. Not much chance of damage on the beach of course, but that would be hard work

for the large pinion and may make the motor run too hot.

I'm quite sure that the 15T pinion that came with my Buggy Champ is aluminium.. Did the re-re Scorcher get an upgrade to steel?

Not sure about the buggy champ. My buggy champ is made from a scorcher kit, where the 15t pinion is magnetic, so therefore steel. I would assume BC is the same.

I run the 15/70 in my 3 SRB's. The acceleration is terrible with the 20/65.

Stick with the 15/70 & if you need more speed upgrade the motor.

Edit: Just read that you have a sports tuned in it, 15/70 all the way, I run that combo in one of mine.

Was the steel grubscrew fitted to the pinion gear when you did that test with the magnet?
