Please help can anyone tell me the difference between the ball thrust bearings in the gearboxes of the King cab and the Astute? i've looked at both of them and they have different part No's SC1 for the Astute and SE1 for the King cab but they are both the same size 6mm. Also is it wise to use normal tamiya grease which you get in a kit for a ball diff or should i get some ball diff grease? is there a cheaper alternative i could use? Cheers Simon.

P.S. Can anyone also tell me what difference it would make adding more spacers to the diff? Would adding more help reduce slackness caused by lot's of use?

I can't answer the first question specifically, but I always thought the diffs were the same.

Second question - use regular grease for the thrust assembly & ball diff grease for the main balls.

The spacers will make a big difference. Try placing all of them to make tha balldiff tight. My KC has about a year of use with a Dynarun ST motor and has never felt "too loose" after I placed all rhe spacers.
