I waited too long and I ordered the servos and the paint from Tower last night like a dummy. I won't have the stuff I need over the weekend now. I'm Irritated but happy I finally have it!

I'm going with Pactra's fluorescent green and hopefully some chrome flames. I haven't painted an rc car fluorescent since the late 80's. I'll see how that ends up.  I saw this and figured it might look good on the KongHead.  We'll see.

HAH awesome!!! I was thinking something obnoxiously bright too, green yellow or pink but I already ordered different wheels so it's setting the tone for what it might wind up being... we'll see.

PS it arrived 30 minutes ago!!!!!!! TEEHEE Im giddy like a fat kid at a free cake party!

I have been out for a few months with 1:1 projects taking over as well as teacher training but I have to have one of these.

I might need to clear some unfinished projects and stick to fun bashers and this looks like one

I so want one but I too am maxed out and broke at the moment with 1:1 projects and associated costs! I'll have to live vicariously through others for the time being :)

Enjoy your rigs folks!!

So far today...

I've built my boys Lunchbox Black Edition up to driving chassis stage. Fitted a Quicrun 1060 ESC (robbed the kit TBLE-02S for something else), an old Acoms steering servo (was the throttle servo from my other boys Mad Bull) and the Tactic TTX300 radio. Just got the body to do...

I've also bought, from Homebase, a mini greenhouse for £5 and a cake decorating turntable for £6 from Wilkinsons. These will become my painting booth - for the Lunchbox body.

Next, after my boys have gone to bed, will either be starting the painting or swapping another Quicrun 1060 into the Mad Bull. Or possibly tinkering the Blackfoot or even fettling the Procat.

Is there a konghead somewhere in all this?

I'm reviewing the manual as I was installing the rear steering setup (and making corrections) I'm getting excited as I see in the manual they've made special notes made in the manual about the color of wheels varying based on the model.

I JUST realized that this thing has no ESC. I just looked everywhere for it and read on the side of the box "not included".  Love it. How I missed this little tidbit over all the stuff I have read on it, I have no idea.

lol yeah me too.... but I have a ton of esc's floating around so I'm trying to find one to switch out a tble02s with one of my others so I can run brushless in this thing.

Wow, I feel better now. I'm betting we are not the only ones that have been surprised. I think I just expected there to be one included.  I would have paid 199 for one to be included I think. I had my kids going through the box to make sure I wasn't nuts. I have a Duratrax speed control I had installed in the old DTX motorcycle I used to have. I'll have to read up on it. I'm not sure if that esc works or if it will even work with a brushed motor.

I ordered a Hobbywing brushed ESC from Amazon. That Duratrax is for brushless only and the brushless motor i have is an 8.5t 4000kv. I think that thing would be uncontrollable so I'll just wait this out for a bit. I can take my time on the body now.

My 9 year old has worked on this many nights now to get it built and has done a fantastic job. Now he is bummed he can't run it for a few more days. I may get him started on the Monster Beetle.

Lol yeah that's the esc's I have lying around.... I'll find an esc to swap out I have a 13.5t but am expecting a 17.5t to come in soon. Cool that your kiddo is working on them mines only 4 so it'll be a while.

Hah! How do you get them to sit still?!?!?!

He just loves to help! And watching you tube videos of RC. His current favourite is the Konghead at the show when it was released. Not good when I got him a Dual Hunter!

My boys are the same - always asking to watch "car videos". One more so than the other.

Neither of them can sit still though and although they'd both love to "help", its impossible to get anything done whilst 2 pairs of little hands are getting involved, or arguing because they both want to see/do the same thing or sit in the same place.

It's much easier to get stuff done whilst they are asleep. Hopefully when they get a bit bigger they'll be able to get more involved. One is definitely more mechanically minded and the other has a better grasp of driving their toy RC's.

Sounds like you have the makings of a driver/mechanic team there!

I received my Kong on the 27th of June when I was away. It arrived and I was both excited and not. I've decided I will build it for my son's 8th birthday gift. He wants it box art. I've also decided part of my collection must go. Weird I'm torn.

My 9 year old finished with the build. He's sad he has nothing to build now. I painted the body and I wished the color was a lot closer to the one above but oh well.

That looks great, I really like how the colour has turned out, very Kawasaki 👍. When will it get its first run?

Funny you ask! :)  We tried. The HobbyWing esc is not working. Tried it with a different battery, radio, receiver, hooked to different motor. Nothing works. Going to return to Amazon. Now I have to find one from another rc until a new one from Tower arrives.

I found myself thinking more and more about this chassis over the last few weeks, but figured it would be above my budget and just another project to sit doing nothing.

Then I happened to see a new-built, never-run example for sale at a local event for way under book price, so now there's yet another project sitting on my shelf waiting for me to work on it.

Got an idea of where I want this to go, but I won't be starting just yet.  Still, I might throw a battery in it and take it to the woods just to see what it's capable of in stock trim :D
