Now here's a weird question that popped into my head. Tamiya vehicles endear themselves to us often because they have "personality" or a soul if you will. The question I struck upon, was could a certain Tamiya embody someone in a way? Strange, I know. Bear with me. When I was a kid my first Tamiya was a Lunch Box and in many ways it embodied who I was at the time. I was on the small side (The Lunchie was the smallest of the monster trucks back then) but I was durable and rough-and-tumble. I was energetic but didn't always land on my feet, much like a Lunch Box.

Nowadays, its more Monster Beetle (the vehicle that originally hooked me on Tamiya ironically). I'm older, more mature (less wheelies, more stable). I come from a mostly German background. The Beetle is often described as humble, which, in person, I am. My joints have gotten looser and sloppy with age like a Monster Beetle's do. I'm less durable. Like the Monster Beetle's diff, I have an achilles heel, my bad back and knees, in this case. I don't do anything particularly well like a TRF201 (which was focused on competition), just an all-around performer with no focused strengths. Also, like the Monster Beetle, I'm quirky and offbeat, but not intentionally, I just am. So, as odd as the question may be, does a Tamiya embody you?

Interesting question, and one I'm struggling to answer :D

but if I really have to, I'd say I'm like the Frog.  A cunning design that didn't really solve any problems but did create lots of interesting new ones.  I very rarely travel in the same direction for more than a few seconds at a time and it only takes a tiny metaphorical stone in my path to send my Buggy of Thought off in a whole different unintended direction, which is sometimes helpful and sometimes not.

TA05 with short wheelbase, as specified in the 911 GT2 re-release body instructions.   Take a formula, distill it, then make it special.

The TA05 represents the fifth time around on an idea, and sometimes the idea comes out so good it will outshine its newer counterparts, the TA06 is beautiful but hard to service.
The TA05 shows not simplicity but elegance- no more parts than it needs and no less than it needs.
The TA05 demonstrates adaptability too by having the ability to become a low profile chassis (IFS).
The TA05 with shortened wheelbase adds agility but comes with the need for more precise and calm steering.

These lessons apply to both my graphic design and future professional piloting.  The TA05 and 3Racing FGX are the only chassis of which I own multiple copies.  They both have that je ne sais quoi.

I'd say probably an original Avante. Not because I consider myself to be an enduring classic with an international cult following, oh no, but rather because...

I have blood type O(-), one of the rarer types, so like the Avante, I am quite hard to find parts for.

Like the Avante, I am over-engineered (I am quite a large chap) but prone to breakage (I do my back in regularly).

Like the Avante, exotic materials are used in my chassis. (I have a titanium pin in my arm from a car accident.)

Like the Avante, my creators/parents had very high hopes for me, which I thoroughly failed to live up to. (They wanted a doctor, they got a TV repairman.)
