Anyone heard of or using GoolRC Brushless?

Recommended Posts

I have really no idea about their brushless set, but a brushed 55T one I have is just awesome!

I have to say only good things about it!

I'm running their 9t 4370kv motor/esc in my TL01b, it's crazy fast!!!

If you can, try to remember to glue your tyres to your wheels otherwise when they shoot off in four different directions you may never find them all!

Is that this kit? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/GoolRC-Upgrade-F540-4370KV-Brushless-Motor-45A-ESC-for-1-10-RC-Car-X5W6/401248175918?_trksid=p2047675.c100005.m1851&_trkparms=aid%3D2220072%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D2%26asc%3D20140122125356%26meid%3D386c5ff585ed4e6aa6f8a17788c55eea%26pid%3D100005%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D6%26sd%3D361863642809

How does the Speedo cope, it's only 45amp rated and at 9T in a buggy I'd expect it to be on the limit of what the speedo can deliver?

Carl.

Well mine is blue but aside from that the info looks the same. I haven't really given it much of a work out, a few test runs up and down the road until the tyre shedding incident is all it's done so far.

I'm tempted to pop it in one of my on road cars before I use it next, maybe an old tl01? Should be fun!

Mine is blue as well.  Same price range.  Was able to hit 48 kph in a WT-01 with very few other upgrades.  It flat moves.  I have a new tt-02b on order and this combo will go in it for the speed run trials.  Its been a great motor esc combo.  I did see a post that someone had an orange one that over heated out of the box, but that's been the only negative thing I have seen.

I've got a 5200KV 4Pole version but not run it really hard, buggy kept falling over with loose screws and chewed gears while it was in it..

It did feel really quick once moving, but not massively punchy down low.. But again I was being gentle trying each latest repair.. It does have a funny "whine" to it, which kept making me think I'd chewed something else!

For the price though, it's a flier!

I'm running a similarly priced Leopard Combo 3300KV, probably less top end but feels more punchy and suited to my highish gearing.. Leopard came with a programmer card also..

I'm running an orange one 4370kv with the 45amp esc and it's fast I recorded 48mph with a 19t pinion in my dt03. No overheating issues. The reason they seem to lack lower punch is they come from the factory with the I'm not sure what it's called it think it's punch set tame. You can change it with the tuning card so it sets off sharper.

What's the thinking on running a 3s lipo on that linked GoolRC 60a esc with a 3900kv brushless motor... or do you need a 120a esc to run 3s lipo?

How do these esc with relatively low amp ratings running pretty high kv motors? What would the motors be in turns, around 8.5T for those kv?

Given what people are saying they work fine though, trying to get my head around the different manufacturers ratings...

Really don't know. I ended up buying a cheap 120a hobbywing clone and a used speed passion motor. Gary1365 has the goolrc setup in his Neo Fighter.

It's a very confusing topic this. I am using a 4T Orion Vortex with one of the cheap no name chinese Hobbywing clones, I've not taken it out yet as I only got the ESC yesterday. The Hobbywing manual suggest greater than 5.5T off road, but according to Orion the max amperage draw of the motor is 95A, some 25A lower than max on the ESC so it should be fine. I was hoping that manufacturers would measure the max amps draw of a motor and also rate the ESC in amps fairly accurately as its an easy thing to do with basic equipment. Still they'll be nowt like a good thrash to see if the ESC can cope without thermalling.

I'm running a Trackstar 13.5T with the TBLE-02s in my Bigwig as it's something that is a tried a true path I am confident it will be fine, also with the Bigwigs gearing 13.5T would seem to be quite rapid too, certainly better with the hold in the hands and spin the wheels test than my Neoscorcher was. When I get a couple of hours I'm going to take all my cars across to the field to test run the Bigwig, test my camber changes on the Egress and decide whether the NeoScorcher gets a sensored Trackstar 10.5T or we stick with the unsensored 12T. Looking forward to having a little play.

I have to retract my statement a bit.  I have a 3100 goolrc with the 60 amp that runs fine. I ordered a 4700ish with the 45 amp esc and it stuttered from take off like crazy.  I tried swapping motors so I'm sure it was the esc causing the problems.

Are you guys running the GoolRC brushless setups with NiMh or LiPos?  How are they on NiMH still pretty quick?

I haven't used GoolRC but have used NiMH and lipo back to back on brushless setups. With no boost/turbo, so either TBLE or blinky mode, there is a difference but its not so pronounced, 10% - 15% ish. The car doesn't slow down as the battery discharges though, vs the NiMH getting slower as time goes by.

The lipo is a game changer when you program the esc though. I think NiMH has a discharge rate around 15C vs my lipos 110C, and i think the battery just can't deliver what is being asked of it. It was probably more like 50% faster, or something, went from quick to mental, but in a good way.

This was just around a mates driveway when we were mucking around, nothing scientific other than the science he provided to explain the difference since hes an electrical engineer

After me saying I'm having no problems my goolrc combo isn't working. It was grand bashing around the beach yesterday but today it's just sitting there juddering it doesn't move.

The only thing different was I tried to use the goolrc program card but it wouldn't connect. The motor and leads are getting warm. I think the esc is burnt out.

My Leopard ESC is 60a/90a burst.. Can't see on the paperwork how many turns the 3300Kv motor actually is?...

I did have so major stuttering issues with mine a few months after buying so changed the motor for the GoolRC one which didn't solve the drive.

In the end whilst i had the bug on the bench trying to figure out what the problem actually was, I saw a big splash/spark come from one off the gold pin connectors. Changed the original 3mm square pins to 4mm bananas and solved the stuttering straight away.

The originals felt tight whilst connected, but the males had no real springy-ness..

Both only used with 2c LiPo

Gary can you or someone link the exact tuning card for these GoolRC ESC's in this combo? ( orange motor with 60a orange Waterproof esc)

Tuning card only works with 80A and 120A esc I think.

Conclusion on the blue HW lookalike ESC's, garbage, lasted less than 5 mins on 2S lipo and stopped working. Mind you for that 5 minutes it's about the fastest thing I've driven, ballooning the front tyres on full acceleration like a dragster, the Orion motor was warm to touch after 5 mins, nothing more.

Going to get a Hobbyking X-Car 120A now as it's £30, I have the programming box and 4 other X-Car ESC's that are great and never give trouble.

Carl.
