I would like to run a brushless motor in my neo I have tried gpm metal gears from Asia tees.  Not happy with them any other ideas ?  Plus any advice on brushless motors plus esc. I would like to keep the price down . Thanks

The DF02 diffs drop right in, the only modification is a bit of filing on 1 gear. I am running 13.5T with some timing and boost and no issue with just the rear diff upgraded. If you buy the metal parts bag then you get a 19T pinion too

I bought trackstar 80a turbo esc and 13.5T and 17.5T motors from Hobbyking. They work really well, especially for the price. I reckon the 13.5T is enough for the TT02B, but the esc can run down to 10.5T. Assuming you have the TBLE-02S then you can just buy the motor rather than the combo, up to you if the extra money is worth it to have some programming. You really nesd the programming card too then though, so about $90US for the setup, vs about $40US for just the motor

Gpm gears just didn't fit properly. I know people have had issues with them from previous conversations on here. I filed them down but just didn't work properly.  Do Tamiya do metal gears  ?

Yes they do metal gears.  You have to buy the gear bag for the gravel hound and one bag of differential housings since it uses 3 metal bevel gears instead of the 4 plastic gears of the Tt02b.  I had to file both propeller gears down to get the aluminum shaft to fit but the gravel hound diffs drop right in and feel SOLID.

Are there all the parts to make 2 diffs in that bag, 1 front and 1 rear?

Yes it is for both. I only did the rear and most others have too. The front isn't necessary since it doesnt take the brunt of the power.

What RB said.  Yea it's plenty of gears to make both plus lots of extra goodies like a 19t pinion.  I did use both metal geared diffs in mine, but I filled the front one with 500,000 wt diff oil to give it a locked feel. It's not a sealed diff, but that weight oil isn't going anywhere.

Cheers guys my daughter's Neo Scorcher has a clicking from the rear diff after a run with a new 15t brushed motor.

Hopefully this kit will sort the problem out.

Don't forget one bag of diff housings. The clicking might be the large bevel gear that seals the differential. The plastic ones flex under high strain and separate from the propeller shaft gear. The new bag has two metal replacements.

Which end of the prop gear did you have to file down? I've fitted these diffs into my daughter's Neo Scorcher and the diffs feel a bit tight it just grinds to a halt when you let you finger of the accelerator.

Do you file down the bit the prop slots into or the bit which connects to the diff?

I think this pic from my mate's build thread shows the issue nicely:

As you can see, the metal diff pinion has a longer shank than the plastic one. From what I gather, if you file it down to about the same length, it won't bind.
