If you're in Australia and the local shop doesn't stock Tamiya, then that's a bit strange!

There are two hobby shops right near me and another a bit further afield (not counting Hobbyco in the city), and they all still stock Tamiya. Two are larger stores, and have more stock on hand and more range of new kits than the smaller one, but all have a decent stock of the newer spares. Mini cup racing is quite popular here, so there seem to be no problems getting Mini kits.

To keep this on topic... I did ask a couple of them about the Hornet re-release, and they knew nothing about it.

James,

I think there was a reference to this about p9. Apparently because the distributor has to carry another line of spares, and they cannot be bothered, we will not be seeing the Hornet in OZ.

Cheers,

Drew

The 'dodgy stuff' has started [;)]

Bit suspect?

Aww,

Don't say that. If it is dodgy, I just did my dough.

Bought a new fox bodyset from this guy, have emailed him a couple of times about tracking details with no respone. I'm getting a little worried, but then JR and Tamiya RC aren't the best at communication either. Supposed to be shipped EMS, how long should I wait before I make waves?

Cheers,

Drew.

Just to clear this up, both these sellers are legit. I recieved an email from one of them today repling that he sent me an email yesterday in reponse to my question about tracking details. I didn't recieve the email. Not for the first time through ebays email system though. I have cleared the air with the seller concerned. Anyway, I got my tracking details and my bodyshell is on its way. This is the beauty of EMS.

Cheers,

Drew.

BTW I was a bit harsh on JR[:I].

Well I went and bought a second one:this time from jr-rc. The first one cost me $125 from another seller so the $96 semed like a really good deal. Okay I'll admitt it-I'm week.lololol.Maybe part the second one out to offset my costs? Whatever....I'm having fun.

Hey Mervvvv!! I'm also tempted to get a second one ......waddyareckon..?? $96 is just too good to resist...

Gonna build yours?? - I suspect you will...!!! [;)] Mine will be barely hitting the workshop bench before it gets put together. Can't wait to give it a real thrashin' out on the track!!![:D]

Rod oh yes. I'll be building and running my hornet either Christmas or boxing day, providing it arrives in time. Have a complete new radio system/battery etc just waiting.I'm so excited. Sometimes the excitement waiting is almost as much fun as building.Besides the second kit I also bought another set of wheels and tires from Jason. This kit is not only going to be so retro building and driving, but its going to bring back all kinds of memories. Its so fun to be "us".lololol

Now that is interesting! I wonder if this will be a trend to replace all the "super" and "II" models with the original ones for a while?

BTW what excuse does my LHS have now? - previously it was that they didn't want to carry Super Hornet and Hornet spares so the Hornet wouldn't be coming to Australia. Can I now assume the tables are turned, no more Super Hornets and just the good old one? :)

I remember my Hornet, I traveled to Middlesbrough (Cleveland, UK) to pick up the kit, My friend got a Grasshopper, I raced rings around him, Now I've got a new re-release, I not sure I should build it or keep it.

I'm sure some somebody will want a Stock Hornet race at Snetterton 2005?

I'll keep this kit, I've ordered more than one [:D] , well I'm sure Tamiya won't re-release my first car the Sand Scorcher [?]

One more reason why the Hornet is cool:

Its called "THE HORNET", as in "The Terminator" or the "The Freak".

The "THE"is used to indicate uniqueness or to emphasize one of a group or type as the most outstanding or prominent.

Newer kits (Blazing Star, Dirt Tharasher, etc.) dropped dont use that word.

One more thing: never thought id see the day when a re-release makes you doscontinue a newer version of the kit it supposedly replaced in better fashion.

Wasn't the Super Hornet supposed to be better than the Hornet?[?]

Interesting observation. I have never been a fan of the super hornet. The Hornet was so cool and I had one for many years. Then the super hornet came out and it just didn't do anything for me.Not sure why? I'm really liking the re-release though.[8D]

JamesMCC - Did you bid on that clean looking Lunchbox which sold for only £47? [:0] If it was as good as it looked then that was a bargain for somebody...I was expecting it to top £100. The clean shell alone was worth that [:P] I wish I'd bid on it now!

Also why do most Lunchboxes have either one or all of the tyres on the wrong way around....weird phenomenon that. [:D]

Well...The rerelease Hornet is Now available[:D] ...Many of us have allready one as a Christmass gift[;)].Now its time to open the Box and See what is all about..[:o)]And the question is...What do You think about the Quality of the Body.[?][?] Mine its like a cheap reproduction,Even though the marking on the mold states "Tamiya 2004".The plastic is not clear and shiny and the Rear wing has spots on it,looks like the material was not properly formed inside the mold.[8)]Maybe its only My kit,or the first few hundreds from the production line...Anyone has the same problem..???[?][?]

id="quote">id="quote">

Yeah, new body kits have protective plastic film on them, to protect from overspray when you paint them..

With the film on, it looks sort of dull and not completely transparent.

You are right Guys[:I][:I] My bad..[:I][:I] But Iam so happy that is ok..[:D][:D].This shows how out of date Iam with all the old staff Iam collecting. [8)][8)]..
