Well isn't that something. Re-release Hornet. Any idea how different it will be from the original other than packaging?

IIRC the Hornet takes the same wheels/tires as the SC and Frog?

I'm still happy with a score for a pair of NIB Super Champ rear tire for cheap-cheap.

It was on display at the Tamiya Grand Prix in Shizuoka this weekend with the release date next to it.

ALLRIIIGGHT !!! Thanks for the re-assurance.

Sounds promising. I just wasn't sure whether the photo was 'fair dinkum', or someone 'having a lend of us', to get our hopes up....

And, boy, aren't my hopes up.....!!!![:P]

I guess I won't be building my NIB Hornet anytime soon then. I'll probably have to buy a new keyboard soon though as the drool from this news will probably short it out soon. At least 2 will be on my shopping list.[8D]

With these rerelease kits, do parts also become available. So we will be able to buy cheap rim sets, assuming they are the same as original ?

Check out Yahoo Japan. Someone has already listed the re-release for sale.

The kits on Yahoo Japan come with the Adspec steering wheel controller, but most kits are going for over £100. Might as well wait and get it alot cheaper. Thats probably why they are on Yahoo Japan at the moment, hoping people buy before kit is released in December

[:0] Oh my god ! Sometimes dreams come true ! Can´t wait to bring my old (or now new !) friend back on the track. The Hornet is one of the sharpest looking buggies, Tamiya ever made ! [;)]

Tamiya could quite easily re-release all their old kits to make some easy money. Theres no development work to be done - all the hard work has been done already. But, I think it is very doubtful that they would re-release certain kits which were actually quite badly designed. That is why they constantly develop their designs and bring out new models. Old designs are old for a reason. When BMW re-released the MINI, they didn't keep the original design - they developed a completely new car. I think Tamiya would have to do the same kind of thing with their older kits. If these kits were re-released they would have to be hybrid versions that looked similar but had new components and chassis designs. The value of the old kits in my opinion will remain constant (the Hornet maybe being an exception??!!).

I totally agree with you. I personally don't see a re-release of a old car with that design. It might look like a Hornet, but it'll have some changes done.

Just look at the Wild Willy for example. Tamiya re-released the Willy and I see the original 1st version Willy still selling for $500-800 on e-bay.[?]

That's because it's a WW2, not a re-released WW1 [:)] look at the XR311 and the Dyna Storm as examples, the original versions are worth virtually the same as the re-releases. In fact the re-released Dyna Storm is supposed to be a better kit than the original.

Well if the Hornet is exactly like the 1st one I'll believe it when I see it 4 sale. Its all rumors as of right now.

I can't find anything in Yahoo Japan..

Also I haven't see any or anybody with the Kikkoman Soy Sauce reissue kits that was talked about for so long.

Nice!!! So how do you bid on that??[:P] I need to sharpen up on my Japanese.LOL

Quote John A. from Tamiya America 11/22/04:

" Jay, yes.. I have heard a lot of rumors about the re-release of the Tamiya Hornet, but Tamiya Japan has told me that they have no future plans of re-releasing the Hornet. Unless they decide to make a last minute decision they have no plans to do so. "

Personally I'd really like to see the Hornet come back but I'm trying to seperate the RUMORS from the truth.[V]

Here is the Google translation of the small box at the bottom of Tamiya Japans release schedule.

Series name ITEM Item name Dispatch schedule

1/10RCC 58336 1/10 RCC hornets December 7th id="blue">

1/48 mini- tally miniature vehicles Â@ The American M4 shaman A1 Sample only

1/48 mini- tally miniature vehicles Â@ The American M10 Sample only

But is it going to be worldwide or Japan only and why was it left in a small box at the bottom of the page[?]

Note the item number which has been blank from Tamiya releases so far as well!

How annoying,

I just saw this thread after paying quite a reasonable sum for a set of front and rear wheels and tyres for my Frog project (Faaaaaq!). Good news about the re-release though.

Cheers,

drew.

Hummm!! So if this is true why not have the 58045 kit number? 58336?

Only a couple weeks away, so we'll all see.

Hello Everyone

I've checked those out on Yahoo Japan Auction(I've found those pages at last) But they all looks like the Kikkoman Triangle's Promotion. (look at those photos)

Then this is what I think...If Tamiya are only going to make 500 for Kikkoman...IT will be very very expansive and I doubt Kikkoman will spent that much for a promo only...So I suppose this is a Real Deal...I am not saying it will be Exactly the same but will be close. Thank you for reading and I Want a Hornet[:(]

P.S. Please pardon my Enghish
