Been collecting for some time now on and off the past 25+ years, but just decided to sign up for some reason (I guess because I'm starting to get back into it).  Anyhow, I have some questions about a few NIB kits that I have that I'm having issues finding relevant prices on.  I apologize if this is the incorrect forum so mods, feel free to move.

Anyhow, those original release Civic VTi, JACCS Civic and PIAA Accord kits have me a bit stumped because I'm having issues finding sold prices in the USA (where I'm located).  They are opened, but 100% complete and the bags are all sealed inside.  Also below I have the Idemitsu Mugen EG body (was probably saving that body for the FF03R kit that you see).

The gas powered Beams Integra also seems a bit rare at this point and this too is 100% new.

Ignore the Kyosho kit...that's my next build after the FF03R.

Thanks for any help.

Street price or RRP?

You do realise those FF01 Civics PREDATES THE INTERNET (as we know it), right?  think they were out mid 1994, whereas Netscape Navigator only launched Xmas 1994

My internet back then consisted of telnet, Lynx & VI :D

Tower Hobby catalogue would be my goto.

Yep, and that's when I bought those Civic kits as well.  I had to have a hobby shop custom order them for me.  There was no ebay to turn to!

At this point I just wanted to make a decision as to a rough value right now.  I will keep if not worth much, but if worth a decent amount I may sell as I've had them for 20 years and not done anything with them, so at this point they are just collecting dust.  I found some hop-up parts that I bought for the FF01 chassis as well.  I had forgotten that I even bought them.

I have a feeling you just caused a bunch of the members on here to mess their pants. Nib no longer circulated and tamiya. Isnt thay like the trifecta

I don't want this to come off as a for sale thread as I'm sure that violates some rules.  But if they are desired kits I do appreciate the information.  I was just cleaning out some RC items that I knew I'd never use or build and a quick search provided little to no information on some of the stuff that I have.  Now I'm having second thoughts about using that Mugen Civic body on the FF03...

Ah, you want a current market price.

Thought you wanted what they sold for back when new.

Good news... and bad news.

The good news... I've been casually tracking the mugen trio these past 20yrs, have seen them peak about 8-10yrs ago at about ~$1000 FOR THE SET, that's for NIB unbuilt kits. (T kits aren't shrinkwrapped by the factory so there's no official sealing on the box) The EG6 Civic 1:1 has become a bit of a cult classic collectible.

The bad news... T has since repopped the Castrol as bodyset & on FF03, so the lexan bit is no longer uber rare. FF01 chassis has less fans than its 2 younger brothers.

Even today... most traders seem to consider the JACCS & Idemitsu kits are selling for about $500ea and the Castrol 3rd gets included for free  so still a gorilla for the trio.

-----

Yeah no point using the Idemitsu bodyset if you don't have to, go buy a new Castrol set instead... think they came out 3-5yrs ago but there's still plenty of stock around today at usual current-stock cheap price.

Ok, good info and much appreciated.  I knew they redid the Castrol Civic kit a couple of years back (almost bought one, but got the FF03R kit as I had the Idemitsu Mugen body BNIB).

And I tried to get the Mugen full kit to round out my collection back in the 90's, but the Hobby shop could not locate one unfortunately.  But, I did get the official Mugen body and Mugen wheels.

That's the pink one isn't it.

Ironically the pink civic seemed more common downunder than the other 2, there were still some stock of pink kits in odd shops till the end of millennium

Technically, i think it's Tamiya Fluorescent Red on the Idemitsu Mugen Body.

Probably is. A very bright shade of baby pink. :P

Whereas "Cherry Red" is a darker magenta pink, very manly. -_-

Last time I bought a can of Fluoro Red, think it got used on the wheels & stripage of a Loctite R34 that was predominantly black. It was a special custom request, the Comms got reconfirmed several times before the paint got squirted but hey, it looks decent

oh here t'is

If backed with white, I do somewhat remember flo. red turning out a pink-ish shade.  I always backed with the same non-flo color, then white.  Or, I used silver as a backing to certain flo. colors.
