Agrios brushed speed control suggestions

I'm going to tame my TXT-2 Agrios down a bit to preserve its drivetrain. I have yet to find a suitable upgrade for the MR16 drive gear in the axle that continues to round out its semicircular shaft mount hole. As such, the Castle 4600 Sidewinder is coming out and a pair of Torque Tuned motors are going in. Being an anachronist, I still use NIMh and would like to run a 7 cell, 8.4v battery to retain a little speed. What reasonably inexpensive ESC is up to the task? I know an EVX2 will do but that's a lot of coin.

I've been looking at the Axial AE-5 which runs down to 12T single motors on 2S or down to 18T motors on 3S. With the dual Torque Tuned motors at 25T and the 8.4v NiMh pack being between 2S and 3S voltage, will it work? Any other suggestions welcome.

Why not just run a pair of Quicrun 1060 ESC's?

Quicrun 0860, duel motor and does upto 4s, run one in my bullhead.
