New? Hard to find? Dull? or something else

Not been through this list too carefully yet, but its basically all those models in our database that only have ONE member model model uploaded. What everyones best guess as to why that might be? It could just be because they are new models, but it could also be that maybe they are a just bit harder to find. It might even be that its just not a very desirable model to members. Any ideas?

Given the popularity of the build threads subforum, I see the XB models having so few entries because it is possible few members buy them. Many who would be intrigued by some of the re-releases of '90s models (like the Taisan Skyline GT-R, Toyota GT-One, or Opel Calibra) already have one or do not remember them as well as other models (like the off-road re-releases), and others represent lesser-known variants of more popular models (like the Tyrrell P34 1977 Monaco GP - that came after the 1976 Japan GP version, which followed the 1977 hard-body re-release).

The demographic of the forum might be why newer-model cars (like the Endless 370Z, Raybrig/Weider HSV-010, or LaFerrari) do not often appear on this forum, and geographically speaking might explain why a number of Super GT and other Japanese racing cars are up there. The fact that a number of them are already issued in a variety of ways (like the Raybrig/Weider HSV-010) cannot help their causes, either.

So, in the context of the titles, I am guessing 'new/dull' as the main reasons, but for some models (like the complete kits), 'hard-to-find' definitely applies.

I would also suggest that many of the XB models have probably been entered into showrooms using their "Kit" or 58XXX part number, rather than the XB part number..

I have (what I'm guessing is) a #57601 Voltec Fighter Complete Kit in my collection and I didnt even realise it had a different part number as a complete kit, so I would have probably just entered it as the part number for kit version of the Voltic Fighter...

I would also suggest that many of these models are just not available in all countries...

Were the RTR 1/14 trucks widely available ?

Worldwide or only Japan ?

Maybe very limited production run ?

Personally I wouldn't buy one as I enjoy the build experience & for the same reason I would not buy any XB models or any QD models, however I would consider buying a kit with a finished body.

The 1/16 tanks are quite expensive kits so sales will be lower than a budget model. 

Could also be examples of these kits being in TC members collections which they simply have not added to the site.

1) Maybe if it's possible to just have the same model - Re-release linked to the previous original number? so we can list the similar models..?

2) do you need help to summaries the Chassis Type? maybe there is already a list out there that a member can assist?

3) regarding the favourites, used to be able to see our favourites and also our model being favourites by others that link is gone.

I'm surprised the heavy dump kit has only one entry, as there has been quite a lot of chatter about it on the forum. I'm certainly one of the above mentioned members that doesn't list all his vehicles in the showroom, just the ones that I think might be of interest to other people. As the dump truck is a 'buy it, build it, run it' type of vehicle, rather than something that is readily modifiable, there seems little point in listing a model that will look just like all the other box art kits out there. As others have said, I personally have no interest In buying ready to run vehicles, so wouldn't XB models, and wouldn't go to the expense of 'complete kit' models either.

There is an option to favourite any model on every model page (apart from your own models of course)

 

Unless you are talking about your own personal favourites from your models - thats still there too. You just need to sort by 'category' the same as before.

 

As for the 'Only one' models. Its no big deal just thought it was interesting when looking at the data (which obviously carries a bias as it relates to subscribers preferences only)

Have to say I don't think the model database search is as good or as easy to use as the previous version, sorry.

Same as MadInventor I've only ever added kits that I've done "something" with, or that I think will be of interest for some reason. The bulk of what I own isn't in my showroom (including 2 from your list).

the reason why there aren't many is because of the ridiculous prices that they sell for.  Way more than the parts separately.  Sure, it's built and finished which is the reason for the high cost.   Also, they are rather hard to find, even when they were in production.  I can count on one hand the number of times I've seen one for sale anywhere, though I admit I wasn't looking extremely hard.

But anyway, the 23xxx series kind of eliminates the desire for a Tamiya in the first place.  You usually want to build and finish it yourself, not have someone else do it.

I only uploaded my dump truck as I was amazed nobody else had. Like the others above said, it is a limited model for individuality (well you can go nuts if you can be bothered) and it looks ok boxart.

I have others too I haven't uploaded, but I may not be renewing my membership for a while now anyway.
