tarznatz 0 Posted May 4, 2005 This is a question I've often thought of. It's be great to use my hex 4wd wheels as front wheels on a Falcon project I am doing. Is there a hex to bearing adapter out there anywhere??
bholio 0 Posted May 4, 2005 It might be possible the replace the Falcon steering blocks with these from Tower: http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXNY89&P=ML (or these cheaper ones, which take 5x8 bearings instead of 5x11) http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXJK53&P=Z Then you'd need a set of these. http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXJE60&P=7 (or these which are larger) http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXJK54&P=7 Heres an article which deals with type of conversion on a Traxxas Street Sport. It might help. http://www.ultimatetraxxas.com/sswheelconvert.html
tarznatz 0 Posted May 13, 2005 Well I bought the Rustler/Stampede carriers that fit the 5x11 bearings and unfortunately they do not fit where the Falcon's normal uprights go (i forget the name of the piece onto which they are installed). I tried using a dremel to shave the piece down a bit, but the graphite is pretty tough and I stopped before I bodgered the whole thing. Maybe I can use the parts elsewhere, unless you have other suggestions to make em fit. Pt
Toykid 596 Posted May 14, 2005 You can take a std plastic tamiya hex and drill it out to fit the bearings. James.
tarznatz 0 Posted May 14, 2005 Toykid - can you "show me" with a pic or two? Do I drill it while its installed in the wheel? I don't have a drill press, so can this be done without one? What size bit would you need or suggest? Do i drill it to fit a 5x8 or 5x11 bearing? Thanks for any info you can offer.
