Ok I have a few of these motors in my possession  from various kits I bought.

I installed one in my Frog and was a nice match. Very torquey .

I have since opened the can up and added bearings which has helped it's performance all round.

Anyone else like these motors???

Hey Mate, I'll put my hand up as a fanboy of the GT Tuned motor.  What I like is that you can run the standard pinion or lets say the biggest pinion or tallest gearing and the GT Tuned motor copes really well.  Also if your running bigger wheels and tyres, again the GT Tuned motor will cope much better than a silver can or Sports Tuned motor.  19,000 rpm is never going to set the world on fire but the extra torque is where the advantage is so it's perfectly suited for vintage runners or any re-release really.  On-road, off-road, 4x4 or 2WD it's the best stock replacement for a silver can hands down.  I'm sure there is very good reason Tamiya are including this motor in more re-release buggies !

I like the GT-Tuned 25T motor - nice improvement over a silver-can without getting too aggressive; slick packaging; and (to me) an appealing name (unlike the UGT 24T, which for some reason I cannot stand). I just wish I knew how to open up the motors; the last time did not go so well for me.

The bearings I used on several different 540 motors including Reedy are 1/8 x 3/8 x 5/32 bearings.

Initially, I had purchased 3mm x 9mm x 4mm bearings.  Those metric bearings did NOT fit (later I discovered that pinion gears sold on ebay are described as "bore 3.17mm" = 1/8 inch).

I tried to put the bearings in for the GT tuned 25T motor that came with Bigwig.  But the can was crimped onto the end bell.  The end bell is soft plastic, I could not take it apart without destroying the end bell (not with my skills anyway).  So, this motor does not have the bearings.

(btw, don't you just love the shiny commutator of a new motor?)
