Just Had my First Breakdown

Recommended Posts

So I took the Pajero in the garden with the dog and decided to see how fast It could go.

Bad idea the motor was spinning but the wheels were turning erratically then

they stopped completely.

At first I thought the battery needed charging.

Still no difference motor spinning up no wheel movement.

Ok you all guessed it the pinion gear had come loose on the motor shaft.

Silly me forgot to loctite it but it's done now.

What a silly mistake to make I won't be doing that again.

Stupid Boy

Put it back together and I have a screw left over.

I can't see where it's supposed to go and looking at the instructions

they are all in place.

Oh well soon know if something falls off next time I run it.

There'll be many more! I was running my neo scorcher down a road when a wheel came off. It carried on all down the road and into someone's garden. Had to root around looking for it in their flower beds

At least you were close to home, and an easy fix.

I took one of mine to a parking lot about 15 miles away. Within the first 5mins of running it, the pinion came loose on the shaft, just as you described. I had no tools with me, so I had to go back home. That was the day I learned about using loctite on the grub screw.

So I'm not on my own.

I just stood over it thinking all kinds of things were wrong.

It never crossed my mind it was something so simple.

As you say Kingfisher Loctite rules.

Whenever I go out I carry my small tool bag.

If it can be fixed, the tools and generic spares will be to hand.
