Never eally thought about removing it but a scrubbing brush and hot water and washing up liquid should work. Dont forget washing up liquid is a degreaser so is really good for cleaning parts in!

Ive had some cases where some types of greases emulsifies (became white) with dishwashing liq (the first choise of cleaning) and the only thing you do with water is to spread the gunk around.

In those cases I wash the parts in 1:1 Gasoline. Dont let the parts lie in it just use a brush to was it. Afterwards wash it with dishwashing liq and hot water.

What I usually do is fill the gear-boxes with wd40, turn on the engine for 1 min approx, and you suddenly see a dirty liquid get out of the boxes from everywhere. After that all the gears are pristine clear.

I usually use a spray can of isopropyl alchohol, also known as rubbing alchohol. Motor cleaning sprays work quite well, just watch out as some brands can damage the plastics though.

The best stuff I have found is Paint Thinner which is also called Mineral spirits. It won't harm to plastic like Gas will.

We use a petroleum spirit called "Shellite", same stuff as Zippo lighter fluid (NOT butane gas!!). Or just buy the lighter fluid.

Excellent degreaser - doesn't attack Tamiya plastics, removes all oils and leaves no residue. Not such strong smell like petrol or turps (which can soften plastics), much cheaper than motor spray.

Try Gunk automotive degreaser. I have found that it is kind to plastics and gives good results with a tooth brush. Do not leave things to soak for too long (more than a couple of hours) as different metals can have an electolitic reaction if left toghether..

Told you, so simple cheap an easy. I bet you can buy a product from an rc shop that is just washing up liquid in a fancy bottle. If not, i feel i money making oppertunity coming on! [;)]
