Does it even bottom out under full compression? o_O

Yes, it easily hits the deck. There's a lot more movement now I've moved the top mounts closer together, now 50mm between centres.

Here's a quick sneaky peak, before I tear it down and swop from mock-up to proper built.

There's 55mm total suspension movement. 45mm ride height, 10mm droop/sag and it still touches the deck. (At the moment).

How much travel is left in your shocks when the deck is touching the ground?

It's about 2mm on all four. That should be around 3mm up and down movement.

The wooden parts are not very accurate. I've marked out the aluminium replacements, so I'll see how it is when they're fitted. There will be a choice of mounting points.

I've bought some 1mm aluminium for a full length skid plate and front ant rear bash plates. I'll have to wait until the end for the final ride setting. I don't want it to "bobble" around like some other trucks, with too hard suspension.

Today's efforts....

These are Delrin replacements for the chassis bungs that take the suspension pivots. These ones fit. Hole 0.2mm smaller, small OD 0.3mm bigger, flange 1.0mm thicker. No play in 'ere!

Original one top right.

Cooling system installed. I managed to get one fan over a motor cooling slot. The other is right over the ESC heat sink. 😁

One thing I like to do is drive my cars around in my house (at slow speeds) and at work down the long carpeted hallways. The nice thing about those cooling fans is they help should you choose to do this.

Inside driving is pretty fun even if you can't open it up. There always seems to be something that you didn't plan for, that makes it more fun!  Like dragging a string for the cat to chase. Or jumping the wife's flip flops. Or making ramps with the couch cushions for a bit of crawling. The options are limitless when the women aren't home!  -lol

Driving over my wife's foot while she's in church doesn't go down well. (I meant watching Wimbledon). How about donuts around the coffee table?

OCD time again. STD shock screw.

5mm ball collars.

3mm stainless hex drive self tappers, extra long, polished of course.

M2.5 stainless washers, to stop the collar digging into the suspension arm.

Shiney! I might shorten the ball collar a little, when I'm on the lathe again.

Strange design?! Most shocktowers have got the holes in a horizontal curve instead of a vertical line. Some have even got several curves.

Also, there's a lot of unused space in your shocktower.

Mounted the body posts today. Rear ones are the usual "hide them in the tyre", and I'm going to experiment with magnetic ones at the front.

Body and ride height are still being fiddled with.

It's been pointed out that my unfinished shock towers were of a "strange design" and had "wasted space".

Here are the completed items with extra unbreakfulness built in. The next weakest link is breaking the ends of the chassis off. I think I'll give in to the forces of gravity if that happens. 🤷‍♂️

So, it's de-burr, dress, prep and spray time. Then I can build up properly. 👍🖖

Very odd, went back through the thread and some are there and some not within a single post?

So much for imgur being a reliable 3rd party hosting site.

I think it was my fault. I was trying to make folders and move stuff around. I made a folder private which messed it up. As I change it back, the photos reappear on here. 🤷‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤐

I was held up waiting for these, to make the body clear the wheels. Now I can set the ride and body height properly, then I can dismantle and spray! Yippee! 😂

Today's job was to address the appalling steering link slop. 3.9mm shaft in a 4.5mm hole. Disgraceful! 😏

Lathe and Delrin time.

It's a good day.

All my fiddling with hub carriers, skimming drive cups and generally tweaking has paid off. I'll admit that I'm really pleased with this.

80mm, four wheel touch articulation. 55mm ground clearance. 😁
