I bought a TA02T awhile back because I never had anything like it and have decided its not for me. Nice truck and all, but too tipsy off road. I guess I've got too many decades of slinging buggies about to adapt. I tried selling it on the local trade site (Craigslist) but RC cars appear to be harder to sell than nuclear waste on there unless there being sold for pennies (like well under $50), so I decided to keep it.

Here's my two options. 1. Wide track it and maybe mount up a Brat body for a modern take on an old classic. 2. Convert it to a rally 240Z for mostly on road duty with a little gravel/ball diamond action. Any ideas on which direction to take? Thanks.

I'm in the process of building mine into a widetrack. Funds (or lack of!) have currently brought proceedings to a halt but I reckon it's going to be good fun when it's finished :)

Have you tried bolting up some wider wheels that have more offset to see if that helps with stability??

I built a "mini" stadium truck for my nephews to drive using a TL01 chassis, some BF Goodrich tyres (like what comes on the CC01) and an old Panda ute body, but I found that it too would roll over if you turned too sharp.. I have now replaced the wheels with some TLT ones that I had lying around, and it handles a whole lot better now..

I haven't read all of sammo's thread to know if you would need new shocks, but df01 wishbone sprues are only about £8 each on eBay in the UK so it wouldn't cost much to do a basic wide track and  then you effectively do have buggy handling. My DT03 on truck wheels is loads of fun and plenty stable so I would see how much work it would be to spread the track.

Either would be good really. Tall and narrow will always want to tip over, but tall and wide or low and narrow ought to both provide decent stability. Which do you like the looks of best? What do you have in your fleet already, and are you looking for something similar or something different?

When I was a kid I loved the look of stadium trucks like the Stadium Blitzer, but now I think they look silly (just my opinion). The few TA02T wide conversions I've seen look a bit better than the Blitzer, closer to King Cab perhaps. I'll get more use out of it that way, but its probably not too different from my other off roaders when it comes down to it. The 240Z rally option does look better and I've never really tried on road/gravel. I won't use it as much this way (small driveway) but it looks awesome.

That is awesome!  Have you had a chance to drive it yet?  How about some running video?
