Silly one I know, but I have been using the cheap stuff from the £1 shop but it's a short term fix.

What the better stuff to use?

I'm particularly thinking of my Scorcher as the steering servo needs to be fixed firmly.

All tips and links gratefully received.

Thank you

Simon

Back in the day I used double sided tape that came on a roll, was black and rubbery, with green plastic backing. Think I originally robbed it from my Dad.

I mention it because I recently removed the receiver from my Procat that has been boxed away for 20 odd years. The tape held so well I almost pulled the case off of the receiver.

So cheap needn't necessarily mean no good.

I use number plate tape that I got from ebay all my cars are pretty much held together with the stuff, it's stupidly strong, a roll lasts for ages, it's pretty cheap and it's easy(ish)  to remove when you want to remove components.

Hobby King servo tape, transparant with red cover foil. About 1-2 mm thick and sticks like crazy.

At least, that's what I used for my last few builds. And not too expensive.

That's great chaps, thank you for your replies.

All of them are appreciated.

I decided to try the Tamiya stuff 50025, I use so little I thought I'd give it a test drive.

If you can find a place that deals in car body repair supplies, get a roll of mount tape - they use it for re-attaching badges, trim etc...

Paid about £3 for a 5 meter roll years ago, still have loads left.

Like most things these days you can probably find it on ebay too...

If you REALLY want it to stick, check out 3M outdoor grade VHB tape. I forget the number, but it's light gray and has a red plastic liner. It's so aggressive that it's actually difficult to get the liner off. Just make sure you clean both surfaces with a little alcohol first.

I've actually cracked ESC cases trying to get them off after using this stuff.

Good tape for me is one that holds and also one that can be removed easily by mechanical force. Some tape requires fishing line method for removal and or a heat gun.

Parma used to have a nice roll of clear double-side tape with a red backing, and even Novak (remember them?) provided something similar with their ESCs.  I think it's all coming from the same source, likely 3M VHB.

I use 3M 10lbs hold per inch tape. They also sell 30lbs per inch hold tape. But that is a real bear to remove! Any home center should sell 3M tape, regardless of what country your in. 3M products are marketed world wide.

If you're attaching to a clear radiobox then the 3M clear silicone tape would look neatest.

Or you could even use a dab of silicone sealant, works pretty well to glue it to smooth surfaces. But just don't get it anywhere near solvents like motorspray, the silicone will swell & release...
