Nope, not showing unless you click the link. Also you have geotagging turned on which means you can see exactly were it's taken (ie be careful of any pics taken at home.

Thanks.

Still trying to to play with new providers after Photobucket has screwed us all over.

Will remember the tagging on my phone.

The site is so flakey on my iPad that I am struggling to do anything at the moment

Having been made aware of the Photobucket issue, I switched over to TinyPic. It is not the most reliable on some days, but still gets my photos on the forum.

I am playing with google as it is a defacto that most people have to have as part of other internet services. My phone and iPad automatically link to it so it should be easy if I can get over the lack of a file extension in the URL

Google used to be great, when they had their Picasa app. But since they've killed it off, it's nearly impossible to link to anything. There is no more "resize" option, so you have to scale everything down before uploading it, and as you've found, the links are a pain. I've switched to Flickr, since I had an account anyway, but even with them you have to tweak their code a bit after you copy/paste it.

Running out of patience with the "free" providers, but since my wife and I already pay for our own domains and server storage space, I'll probably just start uploading them there, so I can link to them from wherever I want.

Flickr is simple to use once you get the feel for where everything is. You upload your photos, then you click on the photo that you want to post here. Copy the link at the top of the photo page, paste it into your reply here, and it automatically shows the picture.

Thanks guys. I fear Flickr and the others will go the same way soon and I will be in the same boat.

google and OneDrive have most of my stuff anyway but neither can be linked to.

I have my own domain so I might look at hosting or go with the TCphotos option.

Flickr works well if you make the picture public.

You can post private pictures too.

Here's my Flickr photostream. I keep the Tamiya photos set as private so as not to disrupt the flow of wildlife pictures, and because I only post the Tamiya photos here. I have everything grouped into Albums. It makes it easier to organize and find photos.

I see above that you figured out that you can grab the link from the top of the page of a public photo. Here are the other ways to post.

Go to the photo page of the Private picture that you want to post. On the bottom right, you will see 5 icons. If you hold your mouse over each icon, it will tell you what each one does. Click on the middle icon where I put a red Arrow. See pic below:

When you click on that Arrow, you'll get this popup window:

Make sure you select the tab that says BBCode. Choose the size of the photo that you want to post. Then copy the link in blue.

Here is the code that was copied: (I'm using notepad to show how to do this, but you can do it by pasting the link in the reply box.)

You only want the code that has IMG tags around it. Everything else around those IMG tags is so that the picture links back to Flickr, and any accompanying text for that picture. I've highlighted in the next picture to show:

If you paste the blue highlighted code into the reply box here, your private picture will show up:

Remember, just the code with the IMG tags, nothing else. You can paste the whole code here and delete the surrounding code, leaving only the stuff with IMG tags. That's how I do it for private photos. It may seem a bit confusing at first, but after a couple times doing it, it gets much easier and quicker. In fact, all of the pictures in this brief tutorial are set to private.

If you're posting a photo set as Public, then you can grab the link from the top of the photo page, as you've already done in a previous post, or you can just paste that whole block of code from the popup window.

I've been using Flickr for a few years, so if you have any other questions on how to do something there, feel free to ask.

Thanks

I tend to use my iPad and that does not want to select text as easily as a pc so I will keep with the public for now. I will play with the other settings over time, I just hope they stay free

Going to have to switch to another provider, I've paid until December for photobucket, then that's that.

So options are

Google?

Flickr?

Google no good as it does not work as a 3rd party linker.

Flickr looks good so far. Usable on an iPad and a lot more powerful on a pc by the sounds of it.

It has a nice quick interface as well so much better the photobucket.

I've been playing with Flickr too. It takes a little bit of getting used to but it's easy enough, and much quicker than Photobucket ever was. I've uploaded over 700 RC photos so far, more to go!
