the monte carlo spots was orderd seperately when i orderd the replacement shell (red one) and they came with out decals i think the shell is a monte carlo shell also as i had to order the spare set of decals that are in the box

Ahhh I see said the blind man... I did notice the two shells are different sizes... the red one has more material from the front wheel arch up to the bonnet so when it sits right on the chassis there is minimal arch gap.... but when I replaced it with the blue shell suddenly there was a massive arch gap lol...... got it ;p

I'm waiting to present the red shell on here until it's more finished :)

First upgraded part fitted... quick release battery holder... bit of a faff to figure out to fit, and was worried as I had heard someone say after fitting it their Mini shell now bulged out... but this went on ok with no body rubbing ;p

Side note... I came within 2 seconds of buying and paying for the M03 Suzuki Swift XB car for £85 was all loaded into Paypal jsut waiting for the confirm button........... last second I just stopped and thought about it logically.... do I need another car? ****, I hate when logic gets in the way but since I pulled back from it I'm glad I did... I'm supposed to be down sizing and really need to stop impulse purchases, besides, I haven't even started to enjoy this current M03!

yeah the red shell is a different fit i noticed it when i first fitted it so i contacted my lhs and they assured it was the same but i did'nt beleive them esp as the shell came

without package'ing but as i only planned on a shelfa for it i let it go. the holder looks great and tbh i would have said it was a aftermarket jobie if you had'nt showed the package.

and i know what you mean on buying another but hey come on we can never have to many ;) i am atm considering weather to buy another top-force re re or the lotus f1 that being released soon or get a trailer for the merc truck.

Go for the Lotus if it's the black one on a F103W Chassis?

i like the both tbh and its a real hard choice between them.

I'm a sucker not only for black cats, but the cockpit shape of the Lotus Type 79 just looks cooler, old school.

That and I have a similarish looking Tamiya F104W Wolf  WR1 F1 ( black of course) car to build when time permits... If this 79Lotus get released I'll get that to twin with it ;)

Yeah I have a hankering for the JPS one too.

Some progress on the Red Mini shell...... I like the all red shell but also wanted some contrasting wheel arches... so here she is all dolled up like a walking kebab menu ready for painting

My daughter helped me shake the silver can for the arches...

First coat......

That's all for now, it's had a second coat and a quick misting with clear lacquer.... I don't want to show the finished shell until I have the spotlight decals on the 4 front spotlights.

With my battery holder, I got some spacers (use parts off old parts trees or o-rings) and moved the solid side battery holder as close to the body as possible and trimmed the other side shorter so the protruding wires don't push the body out when the battery is installed. It probably moves the weight a little bit off centre, but I would imagine a negligible amount.

My mate just feeds the battery in cable end first, so that the cables exit on the fixed side where there is more space for them to fit without deformation of the bodyshell.

Haha both great ideas.... and tonight I took it out for a quick run and the quick release battery holder held solid ;)

Did a speed run on the silver can with its TEU101-BK speed controller, using a 20t pinion and 3300mah Nimh pack it clocked 18MPH  (29KPH)... pretty quick! ( my daughter grabbed it at the end but the car survived!)

If you paint it black, please get the driver from the Holiday Buggy and paint a mustache on him.

Even with the chequer masks it's a terrific job... right into the corners and no bleeds... I love it!

So what is this 'other' Pontiac shell????

I used to have a m03 that I drove everywhere you shouldn't ie skateparks, bmx jumps and rc off road tracks. Loved it. Need another one.

Rizza you'll need two... or three depending on which Bodyshell you like ;)

Tried fitting my Chassis extension pieces today, gave up after 30 minutes after I couldn't figure them out... finally looked up the M03M manual online and realised which way round they fit! Who knew you need to screw them on from inside the chassis to outside!!!!!

Then I nearly ballsed up cutting out the HPI BMW shell... and had to rearrange the body posts from the Mini Cooper config.

Ginally got it sitting in place but not too happy with the wheel arches and lining up with the wheels :(

I didn't get it quite right, I needed to trim some of the front arches away for clearance on full lock.. and the rear wheels sit slightly too forward in the rear arches :(

It might look better when painted up!

I have similar issues with my M04-based 2002. Unfortunately for me, the body was already painted. A very sharp blade may have to be employed to trim the rear arches. Once I have sorted the rear ride height...

Ok let's have a competition to see who can rescue their fitment best, my money is on you! ;)

I'm not sure what colour to do the BMW shell.. the white does look nice but it seems too easy... might go with a 3 colour body if I have 3 colours that go together.. all my rattle cans are in a cupboard in my baby daughters room so I can never get in when she's asleep i.e. My free time... and when she's awake she's awake ie no free time ( or memory to go check!)

I feel your pain. My Tamiya time was when my boy napped and my wife worked at the weekends or late into the night. Then the boy dropped the nap...

Challenge accepted...as long as there is no time limit!
