sorry a bit off topic but i love that mansell helmet.

try on u-tube as there are plenty of vid's on how to do it try the drift ones as they have loads of driver and car body bits animated.

I made this in my Wild Willy, I used a micro servo fixing helmet to servo horn.

I will make some pictures and post them asap.

Cool Mansell's helmet.

Hi Super Gripper - I did it with my driver of the STUMPkamper here:

In much the same way you have - using a micro servo and a threaded rod through the neck... and a Y lead connected to the steering servo feed so it turns in the same direction as the wheels.

Hi Super Gripper,

What wheel and tyre set up are you using, love the overall look of your Mad Bull!

Maybe you could check out my Mad Bull project thread?

cheers, it took me 5 days to paint as I used plastic primer and the sprayed the shell back white before painting the blue and yellow. - they are repro stickers off ebay,

Then clear coated to seal the stickers in and also to make the three colours shine the same.

Have you got a link to these stickers. I plan to do my new hornet shell similar.

I did a head on a mad bull before, just used a servo rod attached to the steering servo and one side of helmet. The steering servo sits in front of driver so its easy to link up. Crude but works.

Other option is mini servo inside drivers body.

I got them off ebay but haven't seen them on there in ages

I used a micro servo underneath the driver's head. On the Skyline the servo was in line with the head, so I used a long grub screw through the helmet base and the servo. On the Scorcher the servo sat under an angle, and I used a piece of fuel tubing wrapped around the servo splined output shaft on one end, and a long grub screw on the other. This makes for a flexible joint and allows the head to move.

Both servos are connected to the third channel on my receiver. This is so I can properly set the reverser (making sure they look the right way) and throw (to prevent exorcism-style full head rotations :P ) independently from the steering servo. Also, removing the body becomes a matter of detaching one cable instead of messing with intricate linkages.

I'd like to try this but it would be much easier on certain chassis that others.

Those who used a micro server do you actually fix the servo somehow to the underside of the head/driver body,  as I guess there isn't a lot of resistance that the servo requires locking/securing down properly.

And a Y cable sounds the simplest method to replicate the steering servo turns.Anyone got photos of how they did it?

Here's how I did it on the Street Scorcher.

I used hot glue to stick the servo to the underside of the driver figure. In terms of chassis compatibility I think it doesn't matter much. The servo on the Scorcher sticks out about a cm underneath the driver figure, and in the Skyline (with the Tamiya RHD interior set) it's actually about flush with the underside of the interior tray.

Great thanks for the link I've just seen the fuel tube method, very clever. I'll consider this in an open top car where the head is very visible, maybe the Striker or Sonic Fighter as I think space is an issue under the F103GT car ;)

What micro servo did you use?
