According to Tamiyablog, Tamiya are about to release a NSU TT in Jägermeister livery using M05 chassis.

A nice little gem IMHO :-)

I am guessing the M05 as it has the needed 210mm option, and no overhang of the M06. Would prefer they waited and produced the M08 with the correct specs to fit this (and other) smaller bodies. No doubt it will be speced with minilites.

Will be interesting to see how well Tamiya get the body underlap and the waistline bulge with their 3 piece mould.

I am also very keen to see how Tamiya will execute the NSU TT waistline.

That waistline will be interesting to paint into the crevice. Will take multiple light passes to get good coverage.

Yeah, and the can will have to be right in there to get paint on the negative (can't think of a better word right now) side of the waistline bulge so that means the can is going to be real close. I can see it being especially hard with opaque colours and metallics 😓

Are they not rwd though? Bugs me when they release rwd cars on a fwd chassis. The shell will be awesome as they usually are but not keen on it being wrong wheel drive.

Yes, rear engine and rwd. Tamiya do not have a rwd chassis to fit the NSU TT body (short rear overhang). I guess it might fit the MF-1X chassis, but then it will be 4WD :-)

Form letter to Tamiya I'm passing around, send to your Tamiya distributor or Tamiya Inc.:

To whom it may concern,

I am writing firstly to thank Tamiya for the latest M-chassis cars they have released: the MF01x and M07.   I'm also the happy owner of a M06.

My product suggestion is this, based on the assumption there will be a rear-wheel-drive M08 in the future.  Would you consider making the design front-motor and rear/4wd?  There have been many 225mm and 239mm wheelbase Tamiya M-chassis body sets depicting front-engine-RWD cars (MX-5 Miata, Guilia, Silvia, etc).  Think about the potential of marketing this as a drift chassis in addition to a racing platform.

Please forward this to whomever is dedicated to product development.

Kind regards,

XXXXXX

That looks pretty good - it would look just fine on a grid with some M-chassis Alfas, Fiats, and an S800 ;)

Disregarding the HPI Cup Racers for a moment, it would be fun to see a period M-chassis touring car race with this new release and other Tamiyas, as well as what TC members will be doing with this car.

Looks like it's even got the open trunk/boot lid.

Would love to know whether that is moulded into the shell and stickered or there is a separate lid like the Abarth.

Looks like it's part of the shell. If you look at the decals Twinset posted, in the middle there are two decals that look a bit like upside down Nike logos - I think they are for the sides of the raised lid to give the effect of it being open.

It would be great if Tamiya started doing some 'detailed' M-Chassis bodies again. I've recently painted an Alpine A110 - There must be 30 odd bits of plastic for bumpers, lights, all the screw holders behind the body shell. All the new stuff just seems to have some mirrors.

Link to the Body Shell instructions now up on TamiyaBlog for those interested.

Its 239mm wheelbase, runs 55mm tyres.

Body shell has it's own part number 51594, so the shell will be available as a body parts set.
