I just bought some gold front and rear wheels for a Fox / Nova Fox

 (Gold Front and Rear Wheels), Part No's. 9335696 (19335696 & 0445037 & 0445038)

Will these tyres below fit the front wheels?

Tamiya 9805110 Boomerang Front Tyres

IIRC Fox / Nova Fox wheels are 2 inches in diameter and should accept any 2 inch tyre of the correct width..

AFIK, the rear Fox tyres are the same as those on the rear of a Hotshot, Boomerang etc..

I've thought about this and to make it clearer.... will the Boomerang front tyres fit on to  the Fox front ( gold) wheels?

Edit : for my reference...

Striker front wheel 5.4cm tall, 1.9cm wide

Fox front wheels 6cm tall, 2cm wide

Striker rear wheel 5cm tall, 3.4cm wide

Fox rear wheel 5.7cm tall, 3.6cm wide

Note - Striker/ Sonic Figter/ Grasshopper 2 tyres do not fit Fox/ NovaFox wheels ( too small)

I just tried: The boomerang tires will fit on the gold Novafox front wheels, but it's a right fit and the tyre looks pretty compressed.20170823_202324.thumb.jpg.479741d56da3ee9f968461917706f053.jpg

The  sides of the tyre bulge out.

The Novafox wheel is roughly a centimetre thinner and the diameter is 3mm larger than the Boomerang wheel

Awesome me thank you pal, that helps a lot, as in, just saved me buying those Boomerang front tyres!!! I had no idea there a whole cm in width between the two :(

Pity because I really really like the look of those Boomerang aggressive knobbly front tyres rather than the tame ribbed front tyres of the Fox and Striker.

Anyone know of a knobbly front tyre that will fit the gold Fox wheel?

You can probably squeeze them on there, and if that's the look you're after, then go for it. But personally, I wouldn't want to upset the Fox's nice neutral handling by messing with the traction. Some cars understeer with the "tame" ribbed tires (Striker, Grasshopper/Hornet), but the Fox turns in quite nicely.

If you want more options, look for older Associated/Losi/Pro-Line tires made for 2.1 inch wheels, or 2.15 inch if you want to glue them on. They used to make front knobbies for grass tracks. The same era (late 80s to mid 90s) rear tires for Fox wheels would be labeled as 2 inch.

Changing tires and wheels is one of my favorite ways to tinker with a car, but I rarely do it for looks. Even a different rubber compound of the same tread can make a car handle completely differently, and it can be great fun to experiment. But what you'll often find is that the tires that "look coolest" handle the worst. (Just ask all those kids who put extra-wide low-profile tires on lowered cars and then have to tiptoe around corners so they don't rub.)

Thanks Mark, I'll come clean... these gold Fox wheels are going on my refurbed Striker.... the front bearing and rear 4 hole fitment are perfect.

I was planning on just buying GH2 tyres but now know they don't fit and came across those Boomerang nobbly fronts which lists as fitting the Fox and look mean as you like ;)

I was only after a different look and not too concerned about the handling aspect... this Striker will only be run the odd time.

If Maelstrom can post some more photos of the tyres fitted I can gauge the look and judge from there, otherwise I'll have to just buy Fox front ribbed tyres.

If its the width of the Fox front wheels that is the concern, have you considered narrowing the tyres to suit?

You mean narrowing the wider Boomers front tyres somehow?

Plan A - Boomerang KNOBBLY front tyres on Fox Front wheels

Problem - might be too wide looking

Wow.. splicing tyres... I had to watch that above video with mute as I'm at work, so,  are those narrowed tyres good to use as normal afterwards or just for light crawling/show?

I'd imagine narrowed tyres glued back together to not be as strong.

IN saying that..... the front wheels don't have power going through them so they only get minimal forces exerted on them..... and if I shelf it most of the time then it's no problem... I'd only be worried about cutting them wrong and ruining them ;p

S Plan B

Just put a set of Fox/Wild One tyres on and settle for the ribbed look.

Problem is it's not too cheap to buy Fox/WIld ONe tyres is it?!

Full set of Fox tyres £30 from USA with customs fees = £40

4WHeel Circuit in the UK have the Fox/Wild One front and rear tyres but with their £8 delivery it'll cost £32.42 for a full set.

I will wait for Maelstrom to post some more photo's of how those Boomer front tyres look on the Fox wheel to make a judgement.

Yes, those should fit. Forgot all about those. They were standard on the Radicator (dumbest car name ever) and Bandit buggies. Pretty hard compound, like Tamiya tires. Should last a long time.

Those would look great if they fit!

This isn't quite as sexy:

The front tyre of a Super Hornet. The wheel seems to have the same dimensions as the Fox wheel

Super Hornet tyres are pretty rare but good to know that fit.

Yes I can see how the bulging tyre can obscure the view of the gold wheels st certain angles... thanks this has convinced me to forget these Boomer tyres forvthe front.

Just ordered those Traxxas tyres to see if they will fit, knobs included.
