El Dougo 326 Posted August 25, 2017 I have a few projects going on at the moment and I've been meaning to start a build thread for a while. I will post about the cars as I'm working on them, some may take much longer than others and some may never get finished . Here's what I currently have in the fleet, if anyone would like to see or ask a question about a specific car just shout. TT01 - Countersteer drift car. TA02 SW - Built chassis intended as a shelf queen but I messed up the body so need to buy another. Bruiser - Part assembled for almost a year. CC01 - Built chassis (stalled camera car project). TA02 SW - 40th Anniversary still in box. FF03 - Speed run car (*worlds fastest FF03 82Mph) F103 GT - Built chassis with Mugen body currently a shelf queen but intended for speed runs. TRF 419x - Built chassis planned for 17.5T blinky club racing. M05r vII - In progress. TT02 - Stalled speed project, either TT02s conversion or shelf. TB04 Evo IV - Silver can challenge car, current fastest silver can powered Tamiya at (44.8Mph) TRF 418 - Speed run project car going for triple digits and current fastest Tamiya Club Car (85.5Mph) (94.8Mph) I'll start with the M05. I'm working on a Swift body for it and at the decal stage but need to visit my friend and get some more vinyl cut but here it is as of today. It's a V2 R kit with lots of nice Hop Ups included from Tamiya so the only additional parts are carbon towers, hollow carbon gear shaft and 3Racing graphite side trays. I ordered the towers before I built the car and have discovered that the front tower is completely pointless. I just noticed that to fit the 3Racing side trays I need to drill the chassis holes for the mount to sit flush . The pointless front shock tower: The side tray problem: Chassis: It was a nice build overall and I'm very much looking forward to running it. My current plan is to finish the body and then decide on the motor but at the moment I'm thinking about a 2s, 3.5T setup . EDIT *Wild claims relating to having the worlds fastest 2s FF03 are to the best of my knowledge correct at time of posting.

Phil_H 418 Posted August 25, 2017 My claim of the fastest SRB in the world has been uncontested for many months I also have an uncontested Worlds Fastest TA03R.... I'll not put the claim on the HCT just yet Oh...and quite a fleet you have there Doug!
El Dougo 326 Posted August 28, 2017 A little bit of progress with the M05, can't believe that I spent so much time cutting out black stickers that you can barely see. Body work wise I just need to do the light buckets and add some custom vinyl and she will be done. I drilled out one side of the chassis to fit the 3Racing side tray, it sits nice and flush but the screws protrude too much for my liking. I tried just using some washers on the other side which would have been fine although it would raise the centre of gravity a little. I have some flat head screws in my parts box that will sit flush but are too long at 8mm and I'm sure that I've seen shorter version's but am struggling to find them. If anyone can confirm and ideally let me know a part number it would be much appreciated.

I picked it up of Ebay as a never run stock chassis with a finished Civic shell, you can see from the pics that it's had a very hard life since. It's a really tough chassis and is very nice to drive, if anyone is thinking about getting one I can't recommend them enough. Here it is: 82Mph Run: Crash Clip: There is only a little more to come speed challenge wise as you have to run the gear cover to be eligible for the speed board. I have a tiny bit of room for taller gearing and the ESC is still on stock timing but after that I will be removing the cover upping the gearing and seeing how fast it can really go. My ultimate goal is to hit triple digits on 2s, unlikely but you never know And a list of everything fitted. The parts have been changed due to failure, crash damage, the quest for performance and arguably some just for bling. I tend to go for lightweight parts when available and I try to be careful about were I add weight. Jason1145 3986 Posted August 28, 2017 I'd get one just for the way it looks, those lay down shocks look nice and I'm a fan of that Civic shell, well before you trashed it, not so much now How much is invested in parts now, looking at that list I'd guess lots. Jason1145 3986 Posted August 30, 2017 Still adding up the cost you invested into this FF03 lol .... finger tap... finger tap...;)

I don't think that FF03 can take any more upgrades can it?

Yup, the ones I have are 42102 and are also hard black coated, should have looked at the picture when I was getting the part number. Think they were only about £40 from RC Mart. Sorry Jason, thought it was a rhetorical question. 42 is a reference to the Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy, it's the answer to the ultimate question . It's probably closer to £300 not including the electronics and motor. There is a little room left for some more upgrades, I will post some pics when I do the swap over. El Dougo 326 Posted October 8, 2017 A little progress with the M05. Not been much RC action last month but the FF03 upgrades are my next job and I'm thinking about converting my TB EVO 4 to RWD and having a go at the speed record.

What about the big screw that hold the metal plates on the front arms of hotshot series cars?
El Dougo 326 Posted October 20, 2017 Thanks @graemevw, I ended up using the spur mount screws from a TT02 high speed gear set. They sit flush and don't protrude, I just need to decide what to do with it now either it's going club racing or will be another speed project.
El Dougo 326 Posted October 20, 2017 I took the 419x club racing last night, first time I've been in more than a decade and it was awesome fun. You can see from the state of the body (was new) that I need a lot more practice. I did beat my friend's X-ray T4 so was chuffed, go Tamiya
El Dougo 326 Posted November 5, 2017 Finally got round to working on my FF03. The car was getting a bit sloppy so I went for metal suspension mounts, TB evo 4 arms and some titanium coated shafts as nothing too good for my baby Also had some carbon reinforced parts I hadn't fitted and switched to big bore springs. Rear TB Evo 4 arm vs stock FF03 The shocks had been collecting foam tyre Big bore vs standard TRF (you need the aluminium cups to run the big bore) The back end finished, no slop with a nice smooth movment. Now for the front end
Jason1145 3986 Posted November 5, 2017 Looking good, what's the benefit of changing those rear arms, they look a little longer with a further out shock position giving a more horizontal angle on them?

Thanks, there the same length but have less flex and are stronger, think they have changed the geometry as with the wheels on it looks like its added a degree or so of toe in. Hopefully it's for the better and I didn't measure it before so I'm not 100 sure. I am swapping the fronts aswell but I didn't get round to it today as I need to drill out those flattened screws in the last pic.
Jason1145 3986 Posted November 5, 2017 Yep just noticed those front screws.... ouch! good luck with that hope they drill out without damaging anything.

Having acquired a M-03M Suzuki Swift, I have been reading up about M chassis setup. One thing I have come across several times is the recommendation that the M-05 be fitted with an aftermarket front shock tower so as to be able to move the upper mounts outwards making the shocks sit more upright like they do on the M-03. The extra holes on your shock tower would allow you to do exactly that.
