For a supposedly beginner's model, the painting takes a fair bit of time to get right, it's a pity the driver wasn't a separate piece that could be screwed into place after painting, that would be easier!

True that!

Great car Taffer, they are addictive aren't they!

Dear All,

This is it. A thoroughly rewarding experience.

I'm going to park it for a while. The only things left to do would be to paint the driver and get some decals - they cost too much!

I tested the 30 year old electrics, and all seemed well. After a little initial smoke from the electronics, all seemed to work really well.

Any questions, let me know

If you're going to run it I recommend getting some reproduction decals. MCI come highly recommended to me but I've yet to try any of their work. (I got caught out by... other issues... before I could buy some.)

Hello Again.

I'm parking this for now. The body and electrics are where I am pleased with them, they are all functional and look OK. The wheels will have to stay just to keep the budget in place. I know it's missing decals, but again, I think it looks OK for the time being. I may actually make it look like an F1 car at some point.

I thought I'd mention that the electrics are original and completely functional.

Here are my costings:

1. Spare bits circa £18

2. Paints - £8

3. Rear tyres - had lying around

Thank you all for the support and very kind advice.

Take Care and keep well.

I recommend that brand as well; nothing is ever quite like the original, but you can get 4 - 6 sets for the price of one original, and they stick and look good at speed anyway. Incidentally, I have yet to experience any peeling from the ones I ordered, although my own Striker is not in need of fresh decals yet...

And, as you can see from Jason1145's brilliant Striker, you can customize the colour scheme, too ;)

Yes, this Striker project is enough to get me crawling out of whatever woodwork is on TamiyaClub to say that you did nice work on this one, and that it is always great to see another Striker alive again :)

Thanks for the feedback on the decals and the car, much appreciated.

I never thought I'd want to work on a striker!

I am now planning on putting all the remaining bits together to make a scrappy striker!
