Why no stack??????

Recommended Posts

So I am building the new Tamiya Cascadia.

I was just wondering why they don't have a smokestack for it?

I was really hoping to put a smoke system in it to give realism, but there is no stack (Exhaust Stack)???????

Doesn't the real Cascadia have a Euro-style side exhaust? I mean, it is a model of a real truck after all. ;)

I know I can buy one.

I just have always known Tamiya to never leave any detail out of their 1/14 scale rigs.

I wonder why they didn't put one in this kit?????

From the factory they don't have stacks. Pretty sure all the Euros that have standardised box mufflers IRL arent replicated on Tamiyas 1/14 trucks either. No point it making something that isn't there on the real thing.

There are plenty of aftermarket makers of stainless pipes for the 1/14 trucks in either straight, mitred, and dog-eared. Of you can buy some Tamiya ones and retro fit them.

Also don't forget the back panel on the Cascadia has to be accessible to change the battery/electronics.

It seems that Freightliner offer an optional "Horizontal Exhaust" on the Cascadia Evolution, so I'm guessing that is what Tamiya has copied..

Its also as Berman has said, many of these newer trucks have a "Selective Catalytic Reduction" (SCR) system to remove and lower exhaust emissions..
