Those generic Chinese brushless set ups are very good value for money. I've got a few of them. You can get a motor & ESC combo for under £30.00.

The motors with the fins as per the picture are 540 in external size & fitment but the internals are 380 size, these work great on 2wd buggies.

The true 540 size will give lots more torque & are better suited to 4wd & monster truck applications. These have a smooth can as there is no room for heat sinks.

If you are racing then go for the much more expensive brand name gear. For fun the Chinese brushless combo's are unbeatable value.

Thankyou was thinking for LB, are they a straight swap?

These inexpensive combos do work well, and will drop right in a Lunch Box. I personally have used the 3300kv systems with pretty good results. I've seen them labeled under Leopard, Turnigy, and Skyrc. All seem the same with a 50-60mp esc range and whatever motor you choose.

I've used GoolRC stuff for ages in boats and now in cars, they've never gone wrong. These look identical, you can't beat them for the money. I get 41mph on my DT03 with 19t, on standard wheels and 2s.

Either shoot low (2000-2500kv) with a hornet pinion or shoot high (3500-4500kv) with the stock pinion.

You'll lose your Lunch for sure.

(Sorry Granddad Stinky I know I'm in your territory here but I couldn't help but steal my chance at a pun!)

Thanks All!

I will say that reliability can be hit and miss, you can spend as much over 12 months on replacements as a good branded Hobbywing ESC / Hobbyking Motor set up.
