I have a feeling these are old schumacher shocks, does anyone recognise them?

I had them on my boomerang but they need new seals.

Im not sure what they should have, the originals seem a bit distorted. They also had/have some kind of black piece on the little bobbin shaped piece. It fell apart so im not sure what it was made of and what its purpose was.

They have a nice multi position piston and seem very smooth for the short amount of time I can keep the oil in.

I want to rebuild them but could do with some info first so need to find out what they are.

Thanks.

These are Schumacher Vari Shocks. These were quite common  seen on several buggies such as Bosscat, Cat 2000EC, 3000 if i'm not mistaking. The pistons could be build in 4 position, to provide 4 different shock hardness grades- that's why the name "Vari-Shocks".

Scoobybooster is 100% on the money with this, other than the variable pistons the shock bodies are also teflon coated which makes them super smooth in operation.

Thanks.

they do seem smooth, and remarkably unscratched. I also only have 3, 2 rears and one front so there perfect on the boomerang (using boomerang springs).

Ive had a look about, seems they have a fluid compensator (bit of foam) on the bobbiny thing.

I have found vari shock rebuild kits but the foam bits are smaller than what fell out (you get 4 though). I assume the design changed a little over time.

Ill order some seals and see if I can keep the oil in.
