Just a casual help request please guys, do you know of any 225mm shells and if so please post the links to buy them here, I'm finding it much harder to find a shell I like in 225mm, these are not as abundant as 210mm shells so the choice seems limited.

Doesn't have to be a Tamiya shell, just 225mm to sit on either a M03 or maybe an M06

Thanks in advance

Edit: I already have a HPI BMW 2002 Turbo and a TBG Datsun 510 ( copy of a HPI 7208 Cup Racer shell I think).

Rcmart carries blitz body's.   I have tried and they are good quality.  Used one the last season I raced and it held up pretty well.

I'm considering re-making my HPI Miata 225mm shell with prettier stickers and improved details/faux-soft-top.  It's the second gen (NB) MX-5.  Would anyone else be interested in one?

Cheers there's lots there but mostly 208-210mm not the mythical 225 ;)

I need to find 10 minute and scan the entire range properly.

That weblink has great looking Pandora shells, most of the ones I clicked on (20 or so) were 1/10 size so my hunt for alternate 225mm Bodyshells continue.

I have just painted up my TBG Datsun 510 shell in 225mm wheelbase ands it pretty dinky looking.

I'd love a HPI NB MX5 bodyshell. Just keep the hard-top look, soft top is ugly.

As for 225mm bodyshells, indeed have a look at the Blitz bodyshells. Hobbyking carries them as well. The Mk5 Golf GTI and the Honda Jazz body are 225mm wheelbase. Hobbyking also carries Matrixline bodyshells, they do a good copy of the Tamiya Fiat 500 and Suzuki Swift.

Sorry to drag this thread back up, but has anyone used the Matrixline Fiat 500 shell ?

I'm building a M-05 up from all my NIP spares for the son of my wife's friend - got everything i need bar the shell, so looking for relatively cheap and available (ie can't wait 3-4 weeks for shipping from Far East sellers).

I don't own one but I did borrow one the other day to test-run my M-03M without risking the factory finished Suzuki Swift shell that it came with.

The shell seems well-moulded, not quite Tamiya levels of crispness but pretty close. The shape is virtually indistinguishable from the Real Thing - I wouldn't be surprised if they based it off a Tamiya moulding originally. Decals are also pretty good, once again quite hard to distinguish from the Tamiya ones and possibly based on them.

You can see the shell I borrowed in this clip:

@Jason1145 While still in the process of building my M05, I found this guide which lists some bodies for the different wheelbases. Also, the guide is very informative in setting up the M05. I learned quite a bit from it.

Cheers this is very helpful, I'm also curious about other branded shells, HPI and ABC especially.

I obviously learnt the hard way that a TBG McLaren F1 210mmWB doesn't fit any Tamiya M Chassis car ;p

You should do something radical with that shell. Cut out perfect holes in the hood for the shocks to poke up through, kind of like how the real life hotrodders do for the crazy turbo setups.

Like this, but with shocks instead of turbos, and McLaren instead of Chevelle.

Ha.... so like that idea!

But I have now fitted it on an ABC chassis instead cheers though.

I'm not best at cutting shells lately do would fancy an intricate job like that, just budged up a 210mm wheelbased shell by not marking body post holes properly :(

I bought the matrixline FIAT 500 shell, cut it over the weekend but as i ws away from home at the time i've not actually placed it on the M-05M chassis to see the precise fit.  The moulding is pretty good, quite good bodylines / mouldings and the wheelarch cut lines are clear.  There wasn't much in the way of cut lines for the front/rear/sills so some interpretation / common sense prevailed.

I'm not sure whether its the same as the Blitz items from RCMArt - suspect they may be one and the same.  This shell felt very similar in quality to a Blitz Fiat Abarh TCR1000 shell i cut a few years ago

Post up the results here pls itvwill be good to see some examples

Not the best pics but will re-do them when it's painted and the lines will be a bit more obvious.  It's just placed on a stock M-05 chassis but with 7mm alloy wheel hexes (so additional 4mm track width front and back)..

IMG_9057.jpg

+ Wheelbase looks spot on

+ rear arches OK

+ body sits well with stock hex but to my eye preference looks better with the wheels pushed out 2mm each side

+ paint masks pretty easy to apply, seem good quality with decent tack but easily lifted to adjust position

- front wheel arch cut line is a bit generous, in hindsight perhaps should have checked before cutting (the price of cutting it during a weekend away without the chassis to hand)

Just in case you need it... make your body post holes before you paint it... I forgot and whilst my Nissan Coupe shell was cut out perfectly like yours once I'd misaligned the body postvholes it was doomed!

Shell looks ace and yes the wheels need pushing out the 2mm you have available.. good luck with the painting, what colour scheme you set on? ( White would look good against those wheels)
