Scorcher sacrilege!

Saw this on a certain online auction site, badly listed, poor photos, in fact the only thing that got me intreagued was the window glass which had 'Monster Beetle' sticker on it & lack of door handles. Anyhow it was fairly cheap so I though I'd take a punt to see what was going on, and it finally arrived today... To my horror this looks to be an original Scorcher shell, that has been quite horrendously modified. What is wrong with some people?!

Here is the list of horrors (in no particular order);

1. The front wings have been cut into a really dreadful shape (losing half of the wing which makes the original shell so special), and then extended at the lower front edges where they join the nose.

2. All of the wing edge 'lips' have been removed.

3. The VW badge hole, wiper holes, & all body mount holes have been filled & smoothed.

4. The nose cone looks like the light buckets have been cut out to accept some other headlights + it has had the bottom cut off & extended with the number plate recess being totally blanked & replaced with a weird slot.

5. All of the window glass mounting points have been removed (so the glass cant even be screwed in).

6. It has some weird body mount blocks very securely bonded to the inner shell.

All of this is even before I look at the several mm thick paint that appears to have been applied by dipping the whole shell and various cracks etc. So what's it going for it? 

1. It has 'full window' glass in pretty good condition.

2. It has the best condition ' roof gutters' I have ever seen on an original shell!

3. Beyond all of the aforementioned modifications, it actually looks quite a nice shell.

So now I need to work out if its worth trying to do something with this shell, and if so what. The front wings are a major factor, having lost their shape which makes them so special do I try to re-profile them, or rebuild them (if at all possible) - Likewise with the nose cone? I'm still surprised at how aesthetically poor some of the modifications are, especially bearing in mind they cant have been easy to achieve them

It makes me wonder if it was intended to be mounted on a rock crawler..  It would explain the cut front guards / wings, and the slot in the front could be a mounting point, or maybe for a winch cable?
