Does anyone think the Honda City Turbo wheel and tyres can be a direct replacement for those narrow looking chromy wheels/tyres on this re-re Lancia without trimming the wheel arc?

I think wider tyres will handle the off road rally terrain better.

Moreover the deep dish look will enhance the sportiness of the Lancia 😎

Kyosho1, apparently the shell needs to have the arches cut to fit those wheels. I have the Honda City Turbo wheels, my Lancia body will need to have arches widened to match that of the original rally Lancia, I’ll base it off the side picture of the car from the original manual.  Then I’ll stick it on a Subaru Brat chassis. One of my projects in the ever expansive ‘to do’ pile....

Hi Alex,

thanks for leading me in the right direction.

I realized that the TA02 is a 4wd while the Honda city turbo front wheels are free wheeling becos it’s a 2wd.

That means I have to get 2 pairs of rear Honda city turbo wheels/tyres.

I think it’s goin to look incredible !! 🤠

No need

Honda is like FarmKing, it runs hexes on the front too.

Honda wheels are authentic re-release of the original wheel, with a bolt-on adapter for the hex hub in lieu of original WW M38 style wheel mounting.

As also mentioned, the Lancia was announced some time ago, so it would not appear on new lists.

Backorder dates are still set to February 20th, so it will arrive soon enough!

I wonder if the shortened wheelbase of the Lancia would mean a less stable rally car but with good tight turning radius.

I also wonder if this TA02-S will be the chassis for other possible rally cars in the future?Any examples?

Wheelbase-wise the Peugeot 206 WRC and Toyota Corolla WRC shells that originally were made for the TA03F-S would work.

I'd love to see a reissue of the 206 shell, incredibly rare and beautiful.

I do see either one of those coming back as a limited re-issue... Perhaps the TA-02S will be what gets them back.

For anybody considering engine detail in their Tamiya 037, here is TC member fastfordrc's work, for inspiration:

He talked about using styrene, balsa wood, parts-box spares, and leftover wires for this one. Yet it achieves a nice effect; it must look great under the rear window! Some of the most prominent components have been reproduced.

I just remembered something:

7749c7b91dd25bd563e96986a434007b.jpg

The best part about this is that many of the kit decals can be used; the only additions would be some #27 number plates (maybe from the Tamiya GT-One decal sheet), some "Rosso" script/decals, a few Goodyear decals, and what looks like some JDM decals replacing the Sabelt/Savara/etc. set. The rear bumper can be cut off, the front grille (carefully) punched out and folded in, and maybe an extra pair of headlights under the plastic covers supplied in the kit. The two horizontal bands covering the front headlights are easy enough to do with adhesive/tape. Of course, Tamiya 2-piece wheels will be mandatory ;)

Suddenly, I feel like getting two of these... I want to try one for the off-road racing that the original car was designed for, but the opportunity to represent an unusual example of the model is quite tempting.

Got to compare the body to tne 84355 Body parts set. Everything looks the same except for the windows. The TA02S version has clear windows instead of smoke. The decal sheet looks exactly the same :)

Ooo.. clear windows! What’s the part number on them? Hopefully they can be ordered separately

Part number for the window is 19335792

They probably supplied clear windows so it doesn't hide the included cockpit set :)
