For those of you doing more photos of your project; Any tips on a soft box or small studio for shooting finished cars. Have been searching for a bit and have not found anything suitable. I'm thinking like a three foot white box that I can put the model in to shoot. I have a good camera and strobe. Something collapsible?

I use a roll of white paper suspended by a couple of hooks - Pretty sure the paper came from Staples
I've tried boxes before; the trouble is once they get grubby you end up spending ages photoshopping out the blemishes in the box

To reflect light I use a sheet of foam board

Most of the time I use a DSLR with a bounce flash, which fires up, onto that reflector board - that and a diffuser on the flash gives bright light but minimal reflection of the light source.

For phone pics you could try hanging a bedsheet (or sheets of white paper) either side of the 'studio' then place lights behind those - that's how most lightboxes work, you shine lights thru the sides.
As most household lights give off a coloured light (as opposed to pure white) you may need to play around with the white balance of the pics afterwards, but an app like Snapseed will let you do that

Wow,  you guys take taking pics as serious as building the cars!

I still have my 35mm slr,  but never replaced it with a digital one.   Kids are almost grown and I primarily used it to take pics of my oldest daughter when competing in Gymnastics.

No, the pic was taken on an access road at a local reservoir
The whole pic's been tweaked by the mag, but the background was part of the original

The pics were taken just after sunrise, so the light's a bit funny

A proper light tent can be had cheap enough and they fold up pretty small too

Was looking into something like this but having trouble finding one that would work well for larger sizes like TGX cars.

That's a wireless Canon flash inside a 150cm octagonal softbox, with a white reflector to the right. A black cotton backdrop and the glass from an Ikea picture frame to give the reflection.
