What is used to preserve tires?

I heard of using V.R.T from Adams Polishes as it has no oils or alcohol or some use glycerin.

I use the glycerine method for old hard tyres, leave the tyres soaking in an air tight container with glycerine for a week or more, they come out great

It's actually for protecting and conditioning the rubber seals on convertibles, but works well on the rc tyres too
