Any tips?

I have a few sets to be worked on, but I doubt they've ever been apart since the day they were built and the brass + alloy metals feel like they have seized/corroded together. I don't want to destroy them while trying to split them apart & wondered if there were any tricks?

Heat them up a little bit, maybe? Like, in a pot of boiling water? It should make the metal expand a tiny bit, and might break the crud and corrosion free without hurting anything.

I've had some that have been sealed around the end cap threads with silicon sealant - even those just needed some needle nosed pliers on the edge of the brass end cap, and a good finger grip on the shock body

Thanks chaps, some good idea there> Nothing worse than damaging something when stripping parts down, especially when the idea was to actually fix/improve them.
