I had no stability issues @78mph with that truck shell on my TA04, with no spoilers.  Is the front one on backwards (ie...the rear of the wing facing forward?)...would work better the other way around if it is.

It is backwards, but I didn’t want a positive pressure going through the gap. That way there’s more dead air over the cab.

You'll probably going to create lift rather than downforce, if you flip it around it'll push down a bit more on the front.

I’d have to disagree on that one. The air will travel faster across the round surface underneath, this will create the same negative pressure that an aircraft wing produces, sucking the aircraft upwards. This will suck the car down, along with the positive pressure formed by the airflow over the top surface, similar to the rear wing.

The air exits the gap at a slower rate than it enters, that will stop it interrupting the flow across the roof.

What’s the general opinion on the Landfreeder? There must be a reason why it’s cheaper than the others.

Cheaper and simpler body shell, I think. There's no functional difference that I can see.

Mechanically identical to the rest of the CC-01 range, it is cheaper as it carries a generic bodyshell rather than one depicting a real fullsize vehicle for which licensing fees had to be paid.

It is also using a polycarbonate shell, which is cheaper to produce than the injection moulded ones used on some CC-01 models.

(Badging and decals aside, the Landfreeder shell is nonetheless a pretty accurate depiction of a Ford pickup - I forget which one, but I am sure a fellow forumite will be along soon to provide that info.)

Thanks (again).

I prefer the Bronco anyway, so I don’t mind the extra cash. My Monster Truggy is a late Ford, so an early one is good.

I can remember, when I was just into double figures, I used to send away for heaps of sales brochures. I used to dream of owning a huge station wagon with all the roof rails and exterior wood trim, the type of car that took two hours to stop rocking in it’s suspension at the lights. I had a poster of an AMC Ambassador on my wall.

Anyways, thanks for all the help guys, it’ll be after the Xmas expense but i’ll go for a CC01 Bronco and test my modelmaking skills. 👍🤝😁

Very nice. If you could find some scale leaves you wouldn’t know any difference.

The Bronco body from my teen years does it for me though.

You don't have a Lunchbox.  Therefore, you need a Lunchbox.  Hope this helps.

I like the Vulcan approach. 😂 Perhaps later but I’d prefer a rusty Pumpkin.

what? No Mystery Machine, A-Team, Fall Guy etc.... 🤷‍♂️

I don't like to follow the herd.  Hence Wild Kitty, which is another kit that I also recommend if you fancy making your own mark on something.

Im going to have to second (or third) the Lunchbox idea. Great car, extremely durable. You could probably run the thing for years on a sport tuned motor and never break a thing, save for body mounts.

Not sure if it's true or not but I recall reading somewhere that the WW chassis can be extended to provide multiple wheelbase lengths. A stretched wheelbase WW chassis with a Lunchbox theme could be cool.

Can you fit tracks into a LunchBox? This would be so cool.

I did give it some thought. I like the AMPRO front wishbone conversion. I could do that myself.

GS I was just doing a little reading trying to find where I read that and I found a thread where they mention flipping the front and rear suspension arms over on a wr02 chassis to get the correct wheelbase for a cw01 body. It also says the same could be done with the 4wd gf01 chassis if the front driveshafts could be made to fit with the flipped arms.

Imagine a 4wd, double wish bone Lunchbox on a real Tamiya chassis... Drool........
