Obsessed with Tiger Stripes (Ford variety) since I was a kid, I once even bought large 1:1 versions and stuck them all across my White MG Mini Metro when I was a teenager.... how cool was I back then huh?!

Now I focus my attention on the 1:10 market and to that end I present my TBG Escort Cosworth shell with MCI Decals and a genuine Tamiya Whale tail which I had to butcher to fit the rear upper mount sections.... and superglued them in place there!

I am still working on which chassis to mount this to, no body holes have been made and I hope I don't come to regret this later if I mess it up!

A £9.99 rally interior completes the look which has a few little custom parts added like the fire extinguisher and extra decals from my stash.

That's really cool Jason, you've done a fantastic job. No matter what you decide to mount it on it's gonna be cool. If it was me I'd be tempted to mount it using magnets so the lines aren't ruined by body posts sticking through and destroying the scale look.

I really like it👍 you've made a nice job of it.

But I'm biased, I like anything ford shaped (well almost everything).

Wow! Haven’t you now got a TB01 it would sit nicely on?

I would agree with the stealth mount option though Velcro may allow more room for error when positioning.

You’d probably be OK with the Escort but I couldn’t get the rear of the BMW 2002 low enough using body post mounted Killerbody stealth mounts.

...is it missing a gearstick?

Mr SCN that's a great idea about the stealth mounts! I was so close to the project it hadn't even occurred to me... now to find a good set ;)

Yes I've a TB01, but I also have projects of the following too, TA01, TT02, FF01, and a FF02... bit I've a couple ithercshells lined up too so it's tricky picking what to sit on what.

Shame about your Stealthmounts... the 2002 is such a cute shell, I ruined mine with offset body post holes... it's 2-3mm over the left wheels compared to the right haha!

Have now ordered the following magnetic stealth mounts, I test fitted the Cosworth shell on a TL01 and the TB01 and decided the TL01 wins…. Purely as the body posts are in the best position out of the two.

The TL01’s existing body post positions are fine for the front but the rear are lined up right on the rear roof window line… so any magnet stuck there will be visible through the window (This was worse for the TB01 so that’s why it lost).

I’m hoping these stealth mounts I’ve ordered do indeed pivot and extend so I can position the magnet and be entirely covered under the roof and out of sight.

@Badcrumble These might work for your BMW 2002?

Thanks @Jason1145!

I’ll have another look at the 2002. They do look like they could extend well under the bootlid of the car. I need to make sure that I haven’t cut my rear body posts down too far! I’d been working on an ABS platform for some Velcro.

Good luck with these!

Yeah these stealth mounts look telescopic and should be positionable a good 1cm away from the body post to clear my rear window.

I considered Velcro too. Good luck with yours.

I am currently working on TT-01 WRC Cosworth.  I was impressed with the TBG body until I looked at the rear bumper and it's a bit crap.  I am going to have to think what to do, to break up the flatness of it, perhaps fit an exhaust pipe or something.  I doubt mine will look as good as yours, it's my first lexan shell, and I have decided I would rather work with a hard body.   I have opted for the mechanic mounts, unfortunately mine will have to attach to the rear window

I cut my rear bumper too short so it does look a little off, and compared to the original Tamiya shell the rear bumper is a bit flat, it doesn't have the curves built in.

Double sided tape and cricket bat repair tape =  cockpit interior held in place. Just waiting for the stealth mounts to arrive now, the rear mounts will now be located on the underside of the cockpit interior.

Finally got my magnetic stealth mounts and finally got them all lined up with the cockpit etc...... It really is quite hard to line these up becaue once they magnetise there is no room for error... took me a few goes to get it right with the wheels being centred etc.

So now it came to the decision about which wheels will look best... this is just some RC porn, casting couch if it's allowed these days....... to see what fits best.

I always intended to use HPI Turbofans after seeing Svenb's awesome effort..... but they don't suit mine as well, I have some HPI tyres aswell which are slightly smaller diameter.... the Tamiys rally tyres stand 2-3mm taller.

Another vote for number 2 in silver.  I also like the OZ's they are the iconic Cossie rally slag rim, but the white dosen't gel with the body or decal colours

Wow you guys like your No2’s snigger ;)

Thanks for the input though.

Ok I’ve forgotten the P/N for those wheels in photo 2, anyone know it please?

I think 8 for the wheels.  I am really interested to hear how those magnets work.  I have been mulling over how to do something custom on my custom truck project, and if they work good use them on my upcoming cc01.

The only advice I can give is take your time and measure it out properly, and make sure you don’t have any part that protrudes from the chassis or Bodyshell onto each other preventing it all to line up properly.

I was tying to mount mine not realising the interior cockpit had an angled sloping portion at the rear which kept sliding my shell forward a few mm

I also laid a piece of tape over the magnets on the chassis to reduce the strength of the pull between the two magnets, it was viciously strong and I was worried it would pull off on of the mounts... now it’s perfect to hold well but pulls off with just the right amount of force.

i do like no9 but the chrome would need to be painted out as you not gonna get that on a rally car.

and i also like no10 but that would need to be painted also.

then come the ford wheels no2 they really are the ones but dont suit the decal colour for me perhaps paint them gold  ;)
