OK so I'm currently laid up and off work due to an ankle problem 😩.

So I figured looking for a silver lining I would spend a bit of time on my tamiya 😊.

I want to start a new build today and it will be one of the following so my question is, which to build. I'm looking for the most engaging build as I won't be running it for a while anyway so which of the following will be the most engaging and time consuming build to keep me entertained for a day or so?

XV-01 long damper

TA02 Porsche GT2

M05 CRX (recently built the M-06l is it a similar build?)

CC01 Landfreeder

TB04 Honda NSX

I also have a Monster beetle but have built one of these before.

CC-01 to a rolling chassis is less than aĀ  couple of hours, very few parts.

I'm currently finishing a M-05 build from parts, admittedly i was searching around for screws versus having the screw bags laid out in front of me but it's taken 3 hours to get to rolling chassis stage (spread overĀ a few evenings). I dare say I could shave an hour off that with a kit build, all laid out ready to go. Pogo shocks take 10 minutes a set to build, oil filled maybe 30 minutes.

TA-02 not going to be much different.

Not built an XV or a TB, i dare say they are similar timings but if its not a chassis you've built before then you do pay super attention to detail in the build manual so inevtiably it takes a bit longer.

Ā

Shell cutting, prepĀ and painting likely to be similar for all of them, the decals may be more complex on some options. More than likely you'll mod the CC-01 / addĀ some accessories so that will add to the build time.

Have a look at the manuals on Tamiyausa and see what you think.

They are great to get a feel for the steps (I’ve loads saved on my phone now for idle moments and long journeys).

I was going for the TA02SW until Tamico discounted the XV01T.

Blackholesun.fr has a (re)build diary of the XV01 too, probably the TA02 too if that helps.

Can’t comment on the other models...

I own all of the mentioned kits so I can look through most of the manuals with exception of the sealed ones. I really enjoyed the monster beetle build as it is a bit different to most others but I’ve just finished a frog so I guess it will be quite similar. I’m edging towards the CC01 at the moment as I don’t have a crawler.Ā

I should have realised that when you had said that you wanted to start the build today! Have fun!

Nothing wrong with the CC-01, I just found it to be an awful lot of plastic parts, and it went together in no time at all - I was a bit disappointed that I'd built the chassis, with hop up parts in a short evening session.

That’s a shame as it seems a bit more in depth on the face of it.

I have built TT02B, Novafox, Boomerang, TRF102 and TA07 this year. The rere kits were much more involving than the TT02B kits and I found them much more enjoyable. However they are still budget builds compared to the TRF 102 and TA07. Given all the cars you have listed are onroad (well, 1:1 CC01 type cars here never see dirt unless its skipping a curb to park right outside the school gates blocking it for everyone else) then you probably aren't interested in buggies, but the TA07 might fit the bill? It was a really enjoyable build, took a while and was very different to anything I had built before. Also while more expensive it isn't that much more given it doesn't need any hopups, but if you do want to go down that path there are heaps available.

I'm very much interested in buggies but,Ā as stated above the list I provided is of my current NIB collection so I'm not looking to buy another kit just build one of the ones I've got saved up for a rainy day.

i didn't start one today in the end but I have decided it will be the cc01 or tb04.

been doing a bit of body work instead today.

Ah that makes sense now, you already have them. Lucky, the longest I have had a kit nib was about 3 weeks as I resisted starting my Boomerang right after the Novafox.

Having built all those kits in one guise or another, I will say that the answer to your initial question as to which on is the most engaging/time consuming is the XV01. I don't think you can go wrong with any of those builds, but the XV01 answers your specific question.šŸ˜†

      Hi Jon,
In the linked image, I've simply moved the bar forward until it is centered directly over the rear shock tower (approx. 10.72mm) and kept the same height. Ā Is this what you had in mind?

      Hello
      Hope you are well
Are still manufacturing the gear box clamp for Monster Beetle?
Can they be fitted with a rear anti roll bar?
      Thank you for your help
      Kind regards
      Jack
