Hello everyone

I`m new to this forum and need your technicial help

I decided to restore my old blackfoot and I`m confused about the difference in the Blackfoot V/S super Blackfoot(partswise) and what parts might interchange with my original blackfoot-I have a chance to get a complete Thorpe setup for a super blackfoot differential--My question is will those internal parts work in a orginial blackfoot differential case? (I`ve done a search and came up even more confused)I even thumbed thought the manuals section and didn`t get an answer --Thanking You in advance for any answers

I`ve had this blackfoot for 19,20 years I`m reinterested due to somebody asking me about selling it and I lost track of the upgrades--next it`s the RC-10

I'm pretty sure the diff gear size will make this a no-go. The original bf shared its inner gear case workings with the monster beetle and mudblaster. For sake of argument, you could also use the frog gear sets/diff/pinions. The super blackfoot/kingblackfoot and bush devil use a different diff case and gear sets/pinions. Although they share the same frame rails, the newer kits are an entire seperate program.

hi and welcome to tamiya club!

i just had a look through the manuals and it doesnt look like the super blackfoots diff is interchangable with the origianl blackfoots, so my guess is a super blackfoot Thorpe diff wouldnt fit inside the original blackfoot either (the diff looks alot wider) [V]

i'm guessing your blackfoots diff is nackered! the blackfoot/monster beetle diff design wasnt very durable, and looking at the super blackfoots diff you can see tamiya learned from there mistakes [:)]

have a browes through the forum pages - use the "search" button - very handy [;)]

the blackfoots diff wears very easily and once the wears got bad enough all it will do is make a great crunching sound under load.

have a look for member oldfrogshots screw fix method of fixing the diff together. it involves joining the 2 drive cup bits on each side of the diff together with a screw, looking the diff up, stoping it from slipping!

good luck finding the parts you need!

maybe the super blackfoot bit does fit[?] i'm sure someone here knows for sure [:)]

I have compared them side by side and as everyone has stated, it will not work.

Thorp diffs for the original Blackfoot are sometimes expensive on the bay but if you look hard, sometimes you can find some killer deals. One time I bought a blackfoot that looked like a complete wreck for less than $25. You could barely make out the diff outdrive in the pic.
