Mine are:

  1. Build a Novafox and compare it with the original one
  2. Coach my eldest son driving his Hornet and paint a second body for it
  3. Buy my youngest a fun RC car
  4. Shall or shall I not restore the sparepartscar?

Hmm...in no particular order...

Finally run my RC10 and Top Force.

Build my TXT-2.

Build my Monster Beetle.

Change all battery plugs to XT60.

Get something to go racing with and go racing again.

Restore my ProCAT.

Find my vintage Blackfoot body and get that sorted out.

Hopefully find the rest of my Avante 2001 so I can rebuild it.

Get my boys to a point where I can put silver cans back in their cars instead of crawler motors.

Would love to build a three speed with Multi link suspension and remote locking diff's and switchable lights (lights to amuse my 5 yo) which I recon with need at least 6 channels!

Need to spray loads of bodies - but keep telling myself it would be a waste of time at the moment because it's too cold in the garage ;)

Finish my new studio / mancave

Make adjustable shelves with integrated automatic LED lighting

Limited shelf space - arrange a monthly re-shelfing plan so all my cars get shelf time and there is always a theme connecting all the cars in each display collection (actually working on software to do this right now as part of a training exercise at work)

Properly catalog all of my cars and major components (motors, speedos, receivers, servos) so I always know what's in what car and what I've got spare and where to find it

Work out what state all of my cars and projects are in and catalog them so I can easily pick something to do on a quiet afternoon, then make slow methodical progress finishing off my projects

Build a semi-competitive period-correct SRB racer and race it at the Iconic Revival

Fix up my original Top Force Evo and race it at the Iconic Revival

Attend at least one open RC bash (usually an Iconic event in April)

Focus more on RC truck meets

Finish relocating the MFU on the MAN TGX and fit the interior

Finish the details on my race trailer and consider building a full interior

Build a small heated spray booth that ascends into the dead space in the ceiling so I can spray all year round without worrying about what state the workshop is in

Try to locate a 1:14 scale Harley Davidson model

1.  Stop buying kits (or at least sell a kit to buy another).  I may buy a TRX4 before the year is out though.

2.  Create a workspace so I can build for more than a day.  Currently have to clean up at end of day and the hassle of it all keeps me from starting anything.

2017 went waaayyyy to fast!

None RC goals include major progress on the 1:1 TransAm, plumb the UFH up correctly 😕  (heating not been off this year with the shocking "summer"), dig up garden for land drainage (while it's a mess, an off road track + event day /BBQ 🙄) and other weather related tasks that didn't get done in the wettest on record.

RC goals,

Finish what I've started, get the Ultima were I want it, procat , MB etc.

Body mold made with the new mid cust special body, then paint it, race the mid.

F1 and Dark impact speed runs (maybe Ultima for giggles)

I want to try and get more rc time, both bashing with my kids and racing, and just have fun.

Not sure how many models I'll be able to add to the fleet this year, but I'll continue on my quest to add an example of each vehicle type to my fleet. So far I have a vintage 2WD buggy, a modern 2WD buggy, a kinda vintage-ish F1 and a FWD M-chassis. Plenty more to go! :D

My task list is longer than this but my most immediate jobs are

1. Finish trimming the Bowler body, make body post holes and paint the shell

2. Finish trimming the Minor van ABS shell and paint

3. Sort out rear body mounts for the M04 BMW 2002, Fit radio gear

4. Fit AMPro Hornet front suspension, new body and paint and custom decals

5. WW2 body fit on Mini Recon chassis now all the parts are in.

6. ORV project - front end rebuild, centre servo, fabricate gearbox plates

That still leaves 3x Wild Dagger refurbs, M04 Giulia build, Asterion build, Pajero refurb, Hotshot refurb. And whatever else I end up buying...

EDIT:...forgot the M03 Mini I have been assembling for my wife.

Hmmm, I gave up with plans a few years ago; and whilst i did generally achieve ca 70% of what i set out to do in previous years I also failed miserably, and for several years, on certain items.

But, maybe, 2018 will be...

Finish the current SRB projects (2 x Rough Riders, 1 x Sand Scorcher and 1 x Fghting Buggy) - I'm now sick of these lying around the RC 'office' in various states of nearing completion.

Restore my original Super Champ (that one has been on a  list for 3 years)

Sell a few more models (Gmade R1 and TLT-1 probably being first out of the door).

Sell off some spares / collections of older radio gear

Don't buy any more models !

Bin some of the older spares and rubbish I've hoarded

Perhaps build one or two of my NIB kits

Yeah, I think this is a "hopes" list, and not necessarily a "plans" list...

- Gain skill at scratchbuilding bodies out of Sintra/Komacel/sign foam - I have 2 projects started, and 3 more ideas waiting in the wings, and lots of material

- Build one more scaler truck chassis (already have nearly everything)

- Clean/sort/reorganize my hobby room (I can dream)

- Build a nice off-road play area in side yard, instead of just running around in the dirt and gravel and weeds over there

However, I also have a guitar to refinish, hardwood floors to install, and a hungry MGB to feed, so we'll see how far I get...

Agree with markbt73, this is more of a "hopes" list.

Existing/old stuff, in no particular order:

  • Change the electronics in the M05 Mini Cooper and make another speed run attempt.
  • Design front mechanical brakes and reduce the front caster for a modified Sakura D4; add body/tires/electronics.
  • Update the DB01Rs to RR-spec.
  • Do some ball diff maintenance on the Associated B4 Factory Team.
  • Change the electronics in the TRF801XT and make another speed run attempt.
  • Build a TRF801X with nitro motor.
  • Fine-tune the steering on the Super Clod.
  • Make better tail lights for the Wheely King / Dodge Power Wagon.
  • Finish designing and printing detail parts for the GF01 Heavy Dump Truck.
  • Make an interior for the CR01 Unimog.
  • Paint interiors and drivers for the RM01 787B, F104W Lotus 79, and Group C R91CP.
  • 3D print a front grill and rear aero for the F103GT GTR LM Nismo.
  • Build a 3D printer to replace the one I gave away.
  • Install electronics, body, and wheels/tires on a TB EVO 6.
  • Fix the battery tray in a Sakura D3 so it can actually take a battery.
  • Refresh my stock of batteries; some of them are getting old.

New stuff, in no particular order:

  • Set aside some time to practice and learn how to paint driver figures, cockpits, accurately weather hard bodies, and airbrush in general.  Make some attempts to improve scale modeling skills.  Learn how to get some joy from this instead of fearing it.
  • Build a custom Lunch Box -- 70's-style custom van?  Lowrider/slammed?
  • Build a custom Mad Bull -- FAV on steroids? NASA moon buggy?
  • Build a custom FAV -- full tube chassis?
  • Build a TT01E Team Hahn Racing Truck w/ alloy conversion.
  • Build an Associated TC6.1 Worlds Edition.
  • Build a stretched TB03 for a R91CP shell and a Clod shell.
  • Build a TB EVO 7.
  • Build a RM01 with HPI Lancia Stratos shell.

I guess I'll see you all in 2025!

Luckily I don't have any ongoing projects, other than me, ie learn to drive!  My plans for 2018 are to keep practicing and reducing my lap times.  I doubt it includes any new kits (although my son may tell my wife that I need a monster truck like his since he'll be the only one with one...) so any purchases will be repairs for the bashers and rere's, or upgrades for the race cars if there is anything that could be improved.

Actually a "project" would be helping my son learn to drive so he can come and race with me.  He is getting a Futaba 3PV for Christmas which should help, it has EPA adjustment which means he can learn and then speed the car up to match his ability.  He has been using the cheap gear so far which hasn't helped.

I guess another project is making my wife forget about this years spending to allow some for next year...

while I have lots of projects only a couple of things stand out:

actually drive a car, I don't think I've taken any car out this year

learn to use the lathe I bought

and get on with vac forming some bodies

anything else will be icing on the cake

Plans: I'm going to buy a Land Cruiser body to paint in January and then buy a CR01 Rock Shocker later on for it.  I'd prefer a Land Cruiser/Unimog/Bronco CR01 (especially for the box-art) but they're either much more expensive or unavailable.  The XV01 needs a proper rally body and maybe some more hop-ups. Then I'll buy an M06 Alfa towards the end of the year.

What will I actually do?  Buy waaaay more stuff than I should.  I don't doubt there will be several unexpected cars, bodies, motors, blue aluminium, and so forth arrive on the doorstep.  I'm going back to university part-time so that will at least prevent me spending too much time and money on Tamiya stuff.  I'm also betting that the King Cab and Hilux won't be re-released until 2019 at the earliest, if at all, since they originally came out in 1989/1990 like the Astute.

Plan for 2018 is building some of the kits purchased in 2017. Guess the Boomerang is first in line.

Getting a rere Javelin, and build up with the yellow roll cage.

Getting a rere Optima Mid (hint Kyosho).

But most important of all, is to drive my rc’s a lot more.

Then I guess Tamiya will also rere a handfull of cars, I can’t resist buying...

Well, I've got 3 NIB kits to build plus a couple of extra bodyshells, but I ought to finish off a couple of my other builds that got to 95% and then were somehow parked.

Posted

I think my main plan is to build some of the kits which are still new in their boxes.

Another plan is to build an off-road track in my garden.

There's so many but off the top of my head:

Paint my first Lexan shell (Neo Fighter I've been driving "nude" for the past few months)

Slow down on buying stuff to work on and actually finish the 1.67 million ongoing projects I already have. I have little disposable income and keep spending it on impossible to resist ebay and charity shop finds rather than parts for the stuff I already have lol.

Not waste any occasion where I have free time and good enough weather to go out bashing.

Get a real physical notepad and make to-do lists for each project. I've tried online ideas boards, word documents etc and it just doesn't work. I need good old fashioned pen and paper.

Be disciplined and sell a constant trickle of stuff I don't need or haven't used to avoid drowning in stuff and to finance active projects.

Enforce a rigid "keep desk tidy" rule instead of leaving stuff laying around, wrongly thinking I will remember what those random bolts are for 6 months later. Each visit to the bench must begin with an empty surface and not pushing everything into an ever growing pile at the back of the desk to make room.

Posted

Picture all the stuff i'd like to sell for ages and put it on eBay or similar. ( i'm soo lazy in doing this). I should let go around 20 cars which i don't have time (and space) to make room for all my unfinished restauration projects.
