I know what you mean but I have a 13.5T brushless in my Boomerang rere and it is awesome. TBH I think that the modern kits are better in that they are easier to build and more efficient, but performance hasn't changed that much. I'm comparing to a Kyosho Lazer ZX6 setup for 17.5T blinky so have a good yardstick...

So buy a Boomerang and be done with it! 😂

Hey, you'll prize my brushless Thunder Dragon out of my cold dead hands! I know what you mean, but there is all the old non-standard parts (driveshafts in boomerang et al classic case in point), occasional weak drivetrain, weird hadd to find wheels, minimal/expensive hop up options. I agree you can get them going with some effort, but it wasn't really until the DF01 era that things started to standardise on modern interface standards, and at least vintage 4wd were reasonable performers. 2wd is just a minefield if you want reasonably modern performance. The astute/madcap have well known failings, and i can't imagine running brushless in a grasshopper! Just saying some nice shells for modern kits would be good.

Mud Blaster?  Seems logical since they have already re-released the Black Foot and Monster Beetle.  It'd be nice if they included both the ABS hard body and polycarbonate too, like with the Subaru Brat.

Mud blaster would be a nice easy re-re for them, everything is in production already and all they need to do is stick the right parts in a box and job done. I'd be tempted by it.

With a few updates and modern plastics, the Astute/Madcap failings could probably be rectified.  There isn't a Tamiya buggy in the world that couldn't use a little modification.

I gave a friend a Hornet to mess about with and he put 3300kv brushless into it.  The car doesn't corner worth a **** but in a straight line on tarmac, it's deadly.  He clocked it at over 40mph using the sat nav on his phone.

And I would also like to see new body designs that hark back to the good ol' days.  This streamline, jelly mould, faceless, characterless fashion rarely inspires me to buy a new kit.  Sometimes Tamiya get close, like the Neo Scorcher and Dual Ridge being a take on the Terra Scorcher and Thunder Shot, respectively.  Maybe if Tamiya start naming buggies after animals again, they might be inspired to produce something original.

Re RE RE of the Egress   IN September "look's like " .

Well I’ll hold my hand up and say I’m clueless regarding all this, but I like the look of the Egress so I’d be tempted by one as I fancy a 4wd next assuming I’ve read right that is!

Was the Mud Blaster based on the same chassis as the Monster Beetle? It’s got the rear trailing-arm suspension, right? I remember wanting it as a kid :) Then my love turned to the King Cab and Nissan Hi Lux. Those two would be cool for re-releases too :)

Top Force Evo, Porsche 959, Astute, Hotshot II, Thundershot,Super Sabre,Terra Conqueror,   well they are the ones I want re re'd

This would be an excellent re re lineup for 2018. Since I've got Terra Conqueror to last me a life time I'll just swap that for a Vanquish and the Hotshot II for a Terra Scorcher. But as much as I'd like for this to come true, I have zero hope in it actually happening. 2017 was a lot of second (and third?) runs of re re's, and with the announcement of another Egress run in 2018 it seems this year will be just the same. I'd love to be proven wrong though.

I also think it will be obvious stuff like another production run of the Thundershot, plus the orginal Mudblaster and Super Hornet. Might also see the Top Force Evo announced late in the year for an early 2019 release.

Would love to see a Falcon re release, always wanted one back in the day, after my frog had died a death. Would also like to see the Mud Blaster, Toyota Celica Gr. B, and the Sonic Fighter, all cars I had back then, just my personal wish list. Please Mr Tamiya :D

When do they announce their product line? Or is it something that just shows up on Tamiya’s website?

Usually, we get some info during the Nuremberg International Toy Fair. This will be the end of January.

Really wishing for a striker and falcon but doubt either of those will happen.

My guess is we’ll see a super hornet and mud blaster.  Everything is out there for the mud blaster except for decals and some body mounts.  The only thing needed for the super hornet would be the body and decals.

Would be nice if they did a few more custom colored hard bodies.  Would love a chrome edition super hornet and maybe a different combo on a lunchbox/pumpkin/Montero.

No guesses, I just have a wishlist ;)

  • Ford F150 Ranger XLT and/or Toyota 4x4 Pickup
  • Opel Ascona 400 Rally, but updated body with scale-sized wheels arches (just like the modified Lancia 037 Rally body)
  • Super Sabre
  • Ford Escort (pre-WRC body version)

I suspect one of the original 4WD range (Hotshot 2 or SuperSabre?) and also one of the Thundershot series (Thunder Dragon or Terra Scorcher)

As I have a Boomerang and Thundershot from back in the day and have aquired a Terra Scorcher I would be interested in both even if only from the fact it helps keep spares available.
