Did I buy a 58001 Porsche 934?

Recommended Posts

So I ordered a few things for this, this is the first thing that arrived. Very beautiful kit I was never really into static kits. This was an auction win paid a few more dollars than what I paid for the 58001.

Smart move! You'll be good for body & tyres then.

Body has been seen in 4 colours afaik - green, white, black red.

You don't necessarily have to paint it Vaillant green or Jagermeister tangerine, there's a few other nice period liveries too. :)

heck no, it's on Google  been up there years

my old heap is probably not much better than yours was... bought 20+ yrs ago then boxed away unworked, plus picking up various spares including a static kit, original bodyset plus the Black 934 that T released on a TamtechGear chassis about 10yrs ago.

its just a curio as these things don't run all that great, no real interest in getting it running. One day we'll get around to fixing it up :)

Correct, that's how I fixed my 58002 ;) Funny that the plastic sprue from the TTG 934 is pretty "rubbery".

So I picked up a few more bits. Got a battery holder from Ebay, got the body latch set from Purple_Rob. Got the vintage TX from Ebay and Crash Cramer hooked me up with the vintage RX, switch, and servos so now I have a complete working radio system! Thanks guys!!

Nice collating :)

Have a slight feeling those S12 Futaba servos are heavy duty so they're chunkier than a standard sized servo. We used them in 1/8 gassers and I recall often needing to ream out the apertures on radio plates to fit those.

Looking good there, now get this beast running:lol:

I think the only thing I need is a new motor mount, I have a grasshopper 380 NIP I was thinking about using (I know it's not the 360). But since the original mount is cut up for the 540 I was thinking of just doing a better job cutting it and make it look like the Hop-Up 540 motor mount and get this thing going!!

I think they will be OK all the older servos all are kinda big, the S12's are only about 1/8 inch taller than the MRC's it came with. Thank you for the tip on the W-parts!! I have a one of those on the way!!

My pleasure on the pins you needed. I don't post on here very often but every now and then check back on this little project. Keep up the good work!

Thanks again Rob! That was a very rare part you sent me especially since it was NIP! I think I'm going to try and get back on this project this weekend.

I have more than a few parts for this including an almost complete chassis,360 motor and mount and a driver figure.

If you are interested contact me personally and I will see what all I have.

I got the chassis back together with the 540 motor it came with. I like the tread tires that came with the static kit better than the slicks.

Here is a short video of it running, sorry video is crap I did it with my phone. I strapped in a 7.2V Ni-MH battery and it has a 540 motor. I want to find a old Tamiya 6V battery and put a new LIPO in it. I can only imagine how slow the 360 on 4 dry cells is. And it is only one speed forward and reverse, I assume the two other wires that went to the dry cell holder must have made it two speeds originally?

While you are stripping the old 6v and replacing the insides,.............

Strip out the motor can, and fit a micro brushless in there.

You could gut the old motor, keep the can, and hide the brushless inside, yes the 3 wires would give it away but,........

Great job, subscribed.

Thank you! And that is a great idea! I could probably hide the micro brushless ESC on top of the receiver under the MSC. About a month ago I converted a toy RC snowmobile to brushless with one of the 1/18 scale systems. My only main concern would be is that the old Futaba system does not have the best range, with the antenna down on the TX I only got about 20 feet before it started getting twitchy when I did a range test.

Hey Jason, those old radios really need the full length of the ariel to get a good glitch free signal, and I hope you unrolled the RX wire too, if it is all bundled up in there, could be a bit of interference with the alu plate chassis too???

I think you have a good point, I did not unroll the RX wire and run it (it just was sitting on top of the battery pack rolled up). I have not yet seen pictures on how people run the RX wires on these (I guess that's because nobody really runs these)? I can't own something I won't run, I won't bash most of my stuff but I like to run them.
