I destroyed the slothead? for some ridiculously small screws (2.6x6mm)because every driver head I tried was too big or loose and need some more. Then I need to find a large screwdriver with a very, very, very small Philips head. I say large because the screw hole is so tight those tiny watchmaker screwdrivers are of no use. They were like a millimetre wide

The screw is a Frearson cross and I don't have tool for it. Any alternatives I could use?

Are you sure it is Frearson? Tamiya normally uses JIS-standard screws which differ from standard Philips screws. JIS screwdrivers should be available through an automotive tools shop, at least thats where I got them from as they are used on Japanese 1:1 cars.

Certainly looks like a Frearson. It's a tiny cross inside a larger button head. It is much smaller in ratio than Phillips or other cross head drives and that is the description of a Frearson screw drive.

Thanks, Sven, but I did just bought an E screw pack off ebay, which should contain the screws. I'm now concerned about stripping them again as the screw drive is just so small and requires so much torque that the driver cams out and ruins the slots.

As already stated, make sure your using JIS screwdrivers NOT regular Phillips head screw drivers, there is big difference between the two in fitment of tool and screw.I got the Tamiya screw driver set and I could not believe on how much better they are then regular Phillips screw drivers. I haven't stripped a screw head yet with them.

I know exactly which screws you're talking about Ronnyhotdog, they're terrible and I mashed one too despite having a full set of proper Tamiya JIS screwdrivers here, plus another couple of dozen that I use for motorbike maintenance and other stuff.  I recommend using a different screw altogether for that part.
